Say what you want. Dirty Dancing and a few chick flicks beyond that..

It's just sad to see some one go from cancer. The last I heard he was fighting it and hoping the best.

Maybe I'm just at that age, but it seems this is a crappy year for people dieing

It's both. The older you get the more familiar you are with the people who die.
I'm sorry to hear about it too.

Ya beat me to it by about a minute.

I kinda liked "Dirty Dancing" (but I'll never admit to it ;)) and "Roadhouse" was always somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me (and the bar music was great).

Maybe not great art, but great entertainment. Yeah, he left his mark.

Seriously, I have no life.
He also built custom homes when he wasn't acting. Nice ones, too. Lots of cool woodwork and craftsmanship.

If I had to name a guilty pleasure movie it would be Roadhouse. I still catch bits and pieces of it on Encore. And I'll never admit to liking Dirty Dancing either.;)

Roadhouse is one of those movies I always seem to get sucked into watching when it's on TV. I won't even call it a guilty pleasure, I'll freely admit to enjoying it. Haven't seen it in a long time, but Red Dawn is another movie that can be entertaining even though it's pretty dated.

OK, Red Dawn is good too.

What other Patrick Swazye movies do we like?

I thought Ghost was a pretty good film. I haven't got around to watching Point Break, but I have heard that it is a fun action flick.

He also played a pretty important part in Donnie Darko.

I liked Point Break but Ghost ... no. Brokeback Mountain was less gay.:D

Oh ouch! I have to like some non-guy movies or the wife and I could never enjoy a movie together! :D

Well I still enjoyed it, and it was less gay than Too Wong Foo or whatever it was that Swayze killed his career with. I kind of feel the same way about that dancy movie, no offense to those that said they like it. :)

Sad to see this. I don't know much about him personally, but he seemed like a nice guy in the interviews that I saw.

Exactly, couldn't have said it better.:)

Cancer is such a scary thing. Hope the causation and cure aren't too far off.
RIP Patrick Swayze.

RIP Patrick Swayze.

In this case it was pancreatic cancer... which is as close to guaranteed death (within a 6-12 month time period) as you possibly can get.

As for other movies, cannot forget "The Outsiders".

I like his chick flicks some for their music.

Dirty Dancing,
Ghost.

Outsiders=damn good.

He was one of those 80s stars for sure.

Seems like the 80s stars are going early.

Red Dawn brings back the brainwashing from my childhood that the communists were bad.

Hey, wait a minute; I thought you only watched 'manly' football?:D

They weren't communists, they were progressives.:D
What's a man to do when football isn't on? NFL Network was just invented. :p

Being forced to choose an MTV awards show over football has to be rough. :)
