Looking for a replacement for the Infinity Northridge E250P subwoofer and like the SVS PB13-Ultra but don't want to get burned if a new model is coming out soon.

The present set up 7.1: Denon AVR4802R
Polk Lsi9 surround sounds-2 front, 2 side, 2 rear
Polk Lsic center channel
Infinity Northridge E250P subwoofer
BenQ PE8700 projector
PS3, X-Box 360, Scientific Atlanta HD-HDMI 1080i cable box
Room size: 25’ long x 12’ wide with an 8’ ceiling
Projector is located 12’-6” from front of screen. Screen size viewable 91” wide x 52” high
Seating centrally located.

Any advice would be a greatly appreciated.

I promise you won't be dissapointed by getting an ultra now, even if they do come out with a new 16" sealed version.

Agreed - the current Ultra is quite nice. Also, the 16" smaller Ultra is supposed the be the last of three new designs coming out, and I'd be surprised to see those shipped before next July. So, how long do you want to wait? :)

July of next year....long wait! How much better can it be?

Will the new unit be that vast of an improvment over the current unit?

From what I hear from SVS employees is the PB 16 will perform similar to that of the PB13 Ultra. The only difference will be the PB 16 will be smaller and weigh less.....Smaller in size with the same or similar performance. Thats what I was told....

I have the Ultra...and I very very happy with it. I just got the sub EQ 2 days ago ;)

That was my understanding of the SB16 also...I don't know if that's the case or not though.

To the OP: If you have the space and the funds I wouldn't wait for the the SB16. The PB13 Ultra by many accounts is a true performer. I have the PB-12 Plus (new version) in a 13' x 21' x 8' room and when the bass rolls trough the room it is quite impressive.

Agreed, I have a 20-39 PC+ in my bedroom, and it is more than capable of shaking everything in the room, in fact it can be downright scary sometimes how much bass that thing puts out.

Could the PB Ultra be too much bass for a similar sized room 14.5' x 23.5' x 8'?
Am trying to decide between the Ultra and the new PB-12Plus.

You just have more head room. Will the PB12 plus be enough is the question. (probably depending on you listening habits and whether your room is sealed or open...) Call SVS and they will recommend what you need. They are not known to over sell.

I was told that the PB13 will still be the output king. The SB16U might or might no outperform the U13 in sealed mode (probably will), but the DSP, the possible onboard EQ and it's sealed design will definitely appeal to many. Maybe me too. I've run my Ultra in sealed mode and quite prefer it for music, but I ran out of headroom once during Valkyrie at what I thought was a safe volume, so I put it back in 15hz tune.
