I think you are really stretching yourself to try and tie the two statements together. He simply proposes controls in Capitalism. Not the end of private property. Public health care doesn't equal communism. First it doesn't involve redistribution of income. Second it doesn't represent any of the previously mentioned 10 step to toward communism on this forum.

Furthermore I believe medicine is far too inelastic economically speaking to keep entirely private. I believe in public hospitals and in public healthcare services. I don't think all doctors should be brought in, but I think hospitals should be owned and controlled by the government rather than private industry. I view hospitals in the same manner as schools. I think we can allow for both private and public institutions. This reduces the regulation required for private hospitals while providing somewhere anyone can go for treatment.

What a Communist wants is negativity towards Capitalism. A true Communist can't stand Captalism. This is a baby step process. A revolution does not occur overnight. What they want is to gradually change the way people think until it eventually lines up with their beliefs.

I also don't agree with your statements about public health care not involving redistribution of income. That simply is not true. Who do you think is paying for the bailouts and this government run healthcare if it goes through? Do you think the poor are paying for it? Remember, Socialism has crept into this country little by little and caused the Federal governmnet to keep growing and growing and growing, and it's "We the People" who are paying for it.(Also, there is this idea floating around that the private option is still going to be available when Obama is done. Don't believe it. Read what they are proposing, not what they say publicly and you will see that that is the truth.) If you work hard and make a good living, with big government, it's just more of your hard earned money they can take. Rember, this country used to have no income taxes at all untill Big Brother came calling. It's been a gradual process. And look at where we are today. Where does it stop? Eventually the government ownes everything. And then we are stuck. The power of the people will be gone. With privately held companies, the consumer has the power. In a free market place, if you don't like the service, you go somewhere else for it. It encourages competition. When the government takes control of things, you no longer have that power. You do what the Federal Government tells you to. Remember who we have as a President. He's a crafty one. He didn't get where he is for being stupid. I saw speeches in school also but they were done on a school by school basis as the schools saw fit and not broadcast to every school in the country. Funny how even the N.Y. times headline today said that the backlash about this is a ''Nationwide Revolt''. And that happened only hours after all this info came out. Looks like the great middle class is not staying too quiet anymore.

I've read the communist manifesto and nothing you said reflects it. I must say you are far from communism. which consists of levying heavy progressive taxes and redistribution of property.

No one is proposing that. The goal of the democrats I believe is to give poor people to opportunity to succeed. There are many kids today that flat out have no chance to make something of themselves.

Every kid should have a fighting chance to succeed in our society regardless of race, color, creed, faith, or parental income level.

Kids are the ones feeling the brunt of our health care crisis. I personally know of folks that couldn't afford the medicine for their kids curable illness. Health care is a basic universal necessity and all children should be covered.

Tort Reform is needed, but it has to come later. A common sense law for the nation is what we really need when it comes to lawsuits. Good luck getting it past the lawyers running our country though.

Poor people have all kinds of opportunities to succeed, but they need to look for them like anyone else. If you remember how the "Boat People" came here at the end of the Viet Nam war, many had nothing more than what they were wearing and maybe an address of a contact, friend or relative. Many have gone on to be very successful in spite of their position at the time. Too many have bought into the idea that they can't do anything more than what they already are.

I really find it disturbing that this guy is dragging impressionable children into his battle. Is this really the type of person you want running this country?

They should if they're trying to undermine the Constitution the way he wants to. Speaking to school kids like he's their buddy is no different from any other kind of indoctrination. Trying to involve children in politics at such a young age is wrong, IMO. This is a far cry from Kennedy saying "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country".

No. The underlying principle is the same: the doctrine of self-sacrifice--Altruism. Kennedy was more of a gentleman, that's the difference.

I'd like to hear his reasons for wanting this defense force and I REALLY want to know why he wants it to be funded as well as the standing military. That alone makes me think he doesn't even know how much the Military has, or costs to run.

Why would they? Everything he says and does is fine by them. MS wouldn't report objectively if it was the only way they could have water dumped on them when they were on fire.

I'm pretty sure that if someone asked him about this in a way that showed opposition or suspicion, we'd never hear of them again.

I wonder if he has given any thought to using Mexico as a gulag.
