I vote against it

my experience with electronics are that if they are going to fail they fail early. so extending it to 1 or 2 years i dont think is worth it. Add to that that you are going to put it on a shelf and not move it around, so they dont usually get alot of physical abuse.

I had a 970 that had an issue almost at the end of the warranty and they allowed me to trade it in under warranty toward a 980 (plus the difference in price) because the failure happened right when the 980 came out. I have not considered getting a warranty on any of their gear, but I am considering it for the 83 simply because it cost so much more than their other gear that I've bought.

May I ask how much this warranty costs, and how long it lasts? There aren't multiple options are there? Just curious, thanks.

$49 for an extra year, or $69 for an extra two years. If you go to the Oppo site and click the "+ buy" button for the player, those options show up.

Purchasing an item with a credit card will in many cases provide an extended warranty. Most of the time if it is a one year it will extend it by another year. Check your card for details.

So I would not "buy" an extended warranty, with this extra protection included.
