Been searching, reading reviews, looking at charts (I slightly understand). Finally made a decision and ordered a SVS PB12-NSD. Seemed to be a good choice for a good price. I am sure it will out perform my old NHT SW2 by a mile.

I own a SVS PB12 NSD/2 and I only have the gain at 2 and that thing shakes me to the core. Seriously I have a medium size great room, with attached dining area, kitchen and entry way. Sub sits right next to my sitting position and after running Audyysey, with my gain at 2 (out of 10) it set my Onkyo 805 sub level to -15 (lowest it would go) and that thing gives me pure clean loud bass that has tremendous tactile bass. I couldnt even imagine setting it on 5 or 6 it would shake my fillings out. Just a great sub. Enjoy the tight clean bass.

Just got shipping notification, to arrive Thursday. Can't wait to hook that puppy up. Wanted the PB12-Plus or the Ultra in rosenut but my Financial Advisor/OL has axed my credit rating. Lucky to get this one. You single guys can chime in now.

I can't believe you let the "OL" in on the decision...

My name is Adam and I'm divorced.
Adam, I don't let her in. She lets me have some input though. Ha! Between Harley's and Audio/Video addiction I may be heading in the divorce direction if I don't chill!

Hey guys, got it today. Set it in the corner, hooked it up, set gain at 3, and this thing sounds (feels) great. Just realized I have only owned powered woofers before. This is a real sub. Cannot imagine the Ultra. I am sure after a proper setup I will be even more pleased. Thanks for the direction.

Excellent! Have you had a chance to set the level (e.g. with an SPL meter) and check out the frequency response (with test tones, perhaps)?

Have not had the time. My level meter was shipped yesterday, so will probably be here Monday. Plan on just running my Audessy setup after work today. Where would be a ballpark setting on the gain to start. From what I have read in the manual. I need to shoot for a -6db reading on the receiver. Then bump up the gain on the sub. Any tips will be appreciated.

If you will be using the auto power on feature in your new sub, you may find with a low subwoofer level setting in the receiver (relative to the other speaker level settings) that the sub turns off during movies and may not turn on when you think it should. If that happens, turn the subwoofer level on the receiver up and turn the gain on subwoofer down. The reason that the sub would not be turning/staying on is because the audio signal being sent to it isn't strong enough to trigger the internal sensor for turning/keeping the power on.
