While crumple zones do help, in a crash situation, mass does help. I'd rather be in the Mack truck, than in the MGB Midget in a head on collision.

The only thing that I disagree with in the OP's original post is we shouldn't pick on teenagers. I see many adults texting and driving. While I don't advocate any text and drive, the teen's are probably the one's that could do it best as adults tend to not be as savvy.

You people need to google crumple zones. I can't believe there is individuals out there that still think size is what saves you. Take a massive lead box, and smash it into a wall. The box will be fine, and you'll be splattered all over the insides.

Also, I've had more close calls with older individuals then young. The only car crash I've been in was with a guy in his 40s, that cut over 2 lanes while making a right turn. Lazy driving habits developed over time.

Acually, of my few accidents, most of them were with older people too. Always in a hurry, on the phone or something else that had nothing to do with them driving a car. The vast majority of people suck at driving and when you add in ANYTHING else that takes away from these people with bad habits and poor skills, you have a recipe for accident.

Mmmm, no. It doesn't.

Back in high school, we tested different Chassis designs with eggs. Basically you build a car chassis that would hold an egg. The design needed to have the top 60% of the egg exposed, and you could use any shape you wanted. There was different sized round stock to built it out of, and you needed something to put the egg in. Once completed, the chassis was strapped to a 2L pop bottle, that was suspended with cables, and filled with compressed air. The cables would guide it through a hole on a metal plate, and the chassis would smash into it. ALL the chassis, that had crumpling area's had their egg survive.
