It is illegal to even read TXT in Ca. and I still see it every day. There was a dumb chick blocking two lanes and TXTing on her phone. I revved my engine and went around her and there was a cop RIGHT THERE. He came after ME instead of doing anything about her (bastard). He followed me, then just looked over my car and left.

That is a pretty intense video. My son is 16 and is bugging for his license.

That tends to happen. Sucks....

That is a pretty intense video.
It sure is. My Senior Buyer watched it and she couldn't stop crying for 5 minutes.

They say texting and driving is more dangerous than drinking and driving.

I think I read somewhere that texting is 23 times more likely to result in an accident than drunk driving, but that number is up for debate.

That's heartbreaking and may shock some people into thinking hard about doing anything other than driving while driving. We watched similarly gruesome stuff in drivers ed when I was 16.

Let's keep in mind that adults and teens alike do stupid things that are dangerous to themselves and others. I was driving on a main road here where it is 3 or 4 lanes in each direction with a speed limit of 60-65 (it changes at various points) and all of a sudden the traffic was backed up and moving incredibly slowly. People were slowly moving to the left and as I was able to do so I looked to the right and the source of the problem was a woman going 25 mph while reading a newspaper! Reading the paper while driving, really?

Moral of the story...Drive big American SUV's.
Amen!

My story: I was rear-ended for the first time in my life in 2003. Then again in 2005, then in Feb 2006, March 2006 (different vehicle) and the big one hit me in Nov 2007. If I wasn't driving an SUV, I probably wouldn't be writing this today. The lady didn't see the line of traffic ahead that was stopped at the red light and she plowed into me at 40mph in her SUV. Had I been in a car, it would likely have been a flaming wreck. The impact ripped not only my seat off its tracks, but also the radio/CD player unit came flying out of the dash and wound up in the back seat. I was in physical therapy for six months after that crash.

That was my fifth time being hit in the rear while legally stopped at a traffic light. There has been a huge upsurge in this kind of negligence and I can only correlate it with the use of personal electronic devices. I had two million accident-free miles prior to that.

One thing's for sure: when you're stopped in traffic, you're a sitting duck!

People need to be more aware when driving. 3/5 drivers were women. The first appeared to be having a rough day with her boyfriend and wasn't thinking about driving. The second was a housewife type who must have been thinking about Christmas shopping instead of the road ahead. The third was a hispanic man with a foul mouth who cursed every word in the book as I approached his window, the fourth was a 16 yr old boy driving Daddy's Ford Excursion and hit my right quarter panel while in a parking lot. The last one was a hispanic woman who must have been talking on the phone about what to buy for Thanksgiving dinner.

I tell ya, the day before a major holiday is a bad time to be on the road!

I got my only speeding ticket on Christmas Eve. Sucked to high heaven.

I had the same thing happen to my wife and I in a Saab 9-5. A driver with a Jimmy SUV smashed into us at a good 30-35mph while we were at a dead stop. We didn't suffer any serious injuries.

They should show that at every middle school and up. That is real life and shocking but it get's the point across.

They should, but unfortunately it goes in one ear and out the other. However, you occasionally reach one.

Good on them, I hope it works.

Many years ago, a family our family were friends with los t their teenage son in a car accident. He was working as a busboy at a restaurant, and after a long shift, the other workers asked him to join them for some beers, which he did. As he was driving home (sans seatbelt) he rolled the car. As he went through the open sunroof, he was decapitated.

They parked the wrecked car on the lawn in front of his high school for a week. The point was not lost on anyone.

Made the film I saw in sex ed with an animated bee pollanating a flower seem tame in comparison. Kids are pretty used to this graphic film and I feel it will have no effect. In the 80's (when I was in high school) we were shown a very graphic film about the dangers of abortion (given by pro-lifers mind you) and they showed a film that would make a hardened criminal cringe, and there was my buddy singing in a low voice, "hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us."

You people need to google crumple zones. I can't believe there is individuals out there that still think size is what saves you. Take a massive lead box, and smash it into a wall. The box will be fine, and you'll be splattered all over the insides.

Also, I've had more close calls with older individuals then young. The only car crash I've been in was with a guy in his 40s, that cut over 2 lanes while making a right turn. Lazy driving habits developed over time.

In the early 80's when I was in high school, the only teen driving movie I can recall is one where the A/V guys had to wheel in the old projector and splice the film, anyway it was called "Death on the Highway" or some crapola like that, what made this movie memorable (well for a cheesy 60's made movie, were two things, one is that it was graphic (real life faces of death kinda stuff where your folks had to sign a release to be able to watch it) and two is that the film was narrated by none other than Ricky Ricardo (I love Lucy) so here you are watching real life crash scenes and any second you expect Ricky to go "Hey Babbalou hey bout me banging on da drums".

So anyway you know the scene, 1/3 the kids are asleep, 1/3 are stoned and the last 1/3 are watching with revulsion and humor, so anyway they show the station wagon filled with a happy family cruising down the road and a mack truck coming the other way when WHAMMO instant death for the family, the film turns silent and out of the darkness, some kid yells, "Hey A-Lucy yous gots some esplaining to dos" friggin entrire class is in hysterics and I recall the lady who brought the film was severly pissed and wished us all to go to hell before she stormed out :D
