Hey guys,

I been reading through tons of post here and I learned a lot but just need a bit more help. I have a 20X17X11 living room with 3 openings Foyer, Kitchen, Hallway. I mainly watch movies and some audio. I had a Yamaha 620 5.1 receiver and Paradigm PDR-10 sub. Both were killed off in a lightning storm. RIP.

Now it’s time to replace those units and I have a budget for $700 for the sub. I’ve looked at the Velodyne subs but I read some not so great discussions. I hear great things about SVS subs. Kinda leaving that way.

So what is the best sub for me at a $700 budget.

Thanks in advance.

If size is a factor, the SB-12 Plus might be what you are looking for. If you want more extension, then the PB-12 NSD might do the trick and save you $100 but uses the NSD driver instead of the Plus driver, and it is a bit larger.

xion,

If you are interested in a higher end SVS, there is one for sale on another forum. I don't know the seller, just posting this as an option for you. It is right at your budget limit and gets rave reviews. It is a little big though.

SVS-PB12 Ultra

If you have plenty of room. I went the route of dual A2-300's from ED and am very happy with my HT performance. My entire room shakes and the couches and I have a 6500 cubic ft room. They are fairly large, however having the duals really balances out my room and both can be had for $700 ($350 each) delivered. Only downside is it can take about 1 month or so for delivery since they are build to order.

Good luck.

I appreciate all the info. That used sub is very nice, but I'm a bit leery buying used.

I'm thinking really hard about the PB-12 NSD. It's a bit less than my budget and from what everyone that has one they love it.

I just wonder if it has what it takes for my room size. But I guess you can only get so much for $700.

Thanks again.

The PB-12 NSD will probably take care of you just fine. I can understand being hesitant to buy used, but I have had very good experiences with the few high $ items I've purchased used. I've found most people in this hobby take excellent care of their gear. I'd say don't do anything you're uncomfortable with. Good luck!

I had a PB-10 in a room larger than that and it did surprisingly well. I've heard the PB-12 in a room about your size and it should do fine. It won't knock fillings loose like the Ultra will, but it will put a silly grin on your face :D

I have the same sub and for the price it is a uberdeal, almost made me want to buy it and have dual Ultra-12s.
