Hi,

I have the opportunity to purchase these receivers at the same price:
Onkyo 607
Pioneer 1019
Denon 790 (actually, this will be $15 cheaper!)

My setup is:
Samsung 37" 780p HDTV - likely to upgrade this yr
Xbox 360
Energy Take Classic 5.1 speakers
Rogers HD PVR
Upconverting DVD player

I also have a couple of Polk M10s that I'd like to throw in the mix for fun...and at some point will consider a Bluray disc player

I have read and read and read all sorts of forums and it seems that these 3 receivers are closely matched. I have no opportunity to "test" these out before buying, without forking out a good sum in return shipping charges.

I don't really like blasting the sound, I prefer quality sound to eardrum-shattering. I'd use this 90% of the time for movies and TV vs. music.

Having a hard time deciding, ANY help appreciated. I have read ALL the threads pertaining to these receivers and am no closer in making a decision especially when I am being offered my choice with no price point differences...

I would drop the Pioneer as its amp section is weaker than the other two. The 790 would be my pick. It has Audyssey MultiEQ vs. the 2EQ on the Onkyo, runs cooler, has an Anchor Bay chip, and Denon scores better when it comes to reliability in general.

All 3 are fairly close. I suggest you try them out at the store if you can. See which one suits your temperment.

The Denon is probably the most reliable, but don't even look at the manual. Come here and I'm sure Adam will gladly help you get squared away.
