found it funny though that the whole time we were in the hospital, we were watching House M.D. episodes (watched 1.5 seasons)

looking at the incubation period of 3-5 days from the time of the first symptom ... it looks like it was gotten from at home!
(or maybe the incubation period isn't 3-5 days, but longer - that would at least mean it was gotten from elsewhere)

For that strain of the virus she now has lifelong immunity. However there are three other strains, but to get one of those she would have to be infected by a Mosquito carrying one of those other strains.
