What I thought of the movie was has been said already, and for the missed parts, there is going to be some DVD releases to cover the other stories (from what I've heard).

Any movie that does not have more female parts than male parts is not fit for me.

As a huge fan of the graphic novel from way back, I was pretty impressed with the film. It stayed very faithful to the original where possible, and the few deviations stayed true to the spirit. They did have to cut a LOT of the subplots and side characters; I'm hoping that these will be restored in the Blu Ray release. I'm looking forward to this in any case, as the visuals were amazing, and the audio (especially the low freq.) was extremely well done. Can't wait to see it at home, and to be able to freeze it to look for all the minutia. In case it's not already obvious, I am quite the fanboy geek!

Best Movie I've seen this year

Okay, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I thought "Watchmen" was the best movie I've seen this year.

And I'm saying this even though my local theaters suck so badly with the sound quality - total lack of bass on ALL MOVIES.

I can't wait to watch it at HOME!!!

Might have to check this one out soon for the special effects. I use to like to go to the movies for the sound/audio and I still do because it makes me appreciate my HT even more : )

Just finished watching it on BD. Overall I really liked it. I didn't see it in theaters so I can't compare the two. I didn't notice the missing parts of the story I heard mentioned, but the BD is the directors cut with an extra "over" 24 minutes added. The movie is dark, I don't just mean the story, I mean the coloring and lighting. I had to turn off every source of light and get my place as dark as I could to see everything. I really didn't notice the nekkidness of Manhattan much, it was more of something that was there but they didn't really "rub it in your face," so to speak. The backstories were pretty interesting. I didn't like the ending much, it's not the events so much as the lackluster way they were presented. Overall I'd say it's a good story with a semi-lamish ending. Worth seeing though.

Just finished Watching it and I really wasnt impressed, I thought it was a ok movie and thats it.

To those concerned about a certain blue penis.

In this case I felt it was necessary to complete the emotional detachment that Dr. Manhattan has from humanity. From his point of view he's not human and he personally feels he doesn't need to adhere to the popular consensus of humanity.

Consider the significance of Adam & Eve. Before God made them aware that they where naked they never felt insecure about it. The reason why they needed to be clothed was because they where now exposed to the environment other than the perfect climate of Eden. Now it's not appropriate for people to walk around naked all the time.

Back to Dr. Manhattan. What weather elements affect him? Extreme cold, obviously not, he can zip right to Mars anytime he feels which is often so far below freezing any human without an astronaut suit would freeze almost immediately. Weather clearly don't pose a problem for Dr. Manhattan. He's also not human and doesn't care about what people think save maybe a couple.

So was it necessary, probably not. However it does complete the picture on Dr. Manhattans detachment from humanity.
