I have a ACER PD 525 and the "LAMP" indicator light is on and the unit will not operate. The manual simply says to call support and they will charge $59.99. Can anyone tell me what this light means and what I can do about it?

I have downloaded your manual.

The light you are talking about means that the lamp us burnt out. Replacement is covered on page 32. It seems simple. You can order parts from ACER, according to their site. Bulb life is 2000 hours.

The prices look very low compared to the two suppliers mentioned in the sticky on this forum. I looked up the bulb for my projector and it's only $159, vs. $233 for the other supplier. Seller says it's garanteed 6 months. Not bad. I think I'll buy one to keep as a spare.
6 months warranty is pretty good. Have you bought anything from them yet.

Not yet, but as soon as the budget is available, I plan to order one... before the end of this month for sure. But it probably won't be til late next year when I get to use it, based on the low usage rate of 10-12 hours/month.

I got this info that the Acer PD 525 projector has been discontinued by Acer and is no longer available in market to buy. Was it a flop for them?

It's been that long since I last updated this thread! I bought the bulb from Pureland Supply sometime late last fall. Did a visual inspection, repacked it and it's in the closet, waiting for the original bulb to hit 2500 hours. I still have a long way to go... am at something like 410 hours now on the original. It's conceivable that I might go 4-5 years before I accumulate 2500 hours.

BTW, the bulb unit has the Osram name on it, so it appears to be the real deal, not a Chinese clone.
