Sorry administrators, but I believe this is getting a little depressing.

I understand that making money for your business is of the highest importance, and maybe I'm just being a little ignorant here, but the pop ups are getting ridiculous.

I hate being the guy that brings this stuff up especially as much as I enjoy visiting Audioholics and affiliates. I hold this site/forum in the highest regard and maybe that's why I hold it to such high standards. I personally expect more, and perhaps that's unrealistic.

I could also be mistaken in believing that AH has anything to do with this, so if I am please correct me.

I've been getting netflix pop-ups every time I visit and my browsing is often slowed by something from this address "c7zedo.com". I don't know what this "c7zedo.com" is, but it seems to have something to do with pop-ups regarding certain forums as I learned through a quick google search.

Maybe I am just nitpicking, maybe I'm just like one of those old guys screaming about the digital broadcast change over, never expecting things to change. It's not that I don't understand change, because I do. The AH store was a very cool thing to add to this site, but pop-ups are never cool. Doing pop-ups is the devils way of advertisement IMO.:D

Seth, we have just been through this.

This may not be Audioholics fault. Your solutions.

1). Make sure you do not have a tool bar pulling this in. If you have an add on tool bar, uninstall it.

2). Make sure you have no spy ware on your computer grabbing it. Download Spybot.
Immunize your computer, then run a check for infections, and delete the infestations. Please note antiviral programs will not get rid or prevent these infestations. You need both.

3) Use Firefox as your browser, not Internet Explorer.

4) Download Adblock plus and install it. This is an add on to Firefox.

I absolutely guarantee that if you carefully follow the above steps, your problem will be solved, and your computer likely run better and faster.

I agree that there are easy ways to avoid the pop-ups, and we did go through those in another thread. Thanks to Mark for summarizing them and pointing people to a solution. I've never gotten them, and I'm a Firefox user.

However, if it is something that is caused by the admins of the site, Seth and others have expressed a valid issue. The regulars here can spend a few minutes and clear it up. My concern is the new people who come here, most of the time for help or information. If someone decides to visit AH because of what they've heard or some web search, but they get a bunch of pop-ups when they try it out, I'd suspect that they'd decide to move on. That would be a shame because of the good info and people that are here.

Seth, I really think it's your pc pulling in more than it is the AH website. I can send you my registry key with all my blocked cookies that you can import into your system. I've already exported it and just needs to be added to your registry. This key only works for Internet Explorer.

Zedo is an advertisement company. Their cookies do not automatically delete and actually work to pull in ads throughout your "browsing experience". I have no pop-ups using Explorer or Firefox. They are easily managed from the user's end.

(As a matter of fact, I see, and I'm guessing here, 1% of all actual ads using firefox and adblock plus.)

Both at work and home, I've never used anything but IE for browsing AH. I've never encountered a popup, not once.

Now if embedded ads are being confused for popups (don't see how that can be the case), I don't see what the fuss is about. Every site has those, even CNN, and I never see FF or any browser block those.

Oh, and Seth, if you're gettig Zedo, it's not from AH, you've got another problem in your system. Trust me. :)

Nothing's popped up for me with FF, but I adblocked the **** out of this site. The home page is just a list of links.

Agree this is a real PITA. I'm using Firefox and loaded ABP. I still get the Netflix popup but the window contents are gone. I have all of the suspect options boxes checked in ABP but I still have to close the blank window with the C13zedo.com URL in the address line.

They primary source for pop-ups is usually browser add-ons or ad-ware. I suggest a thorough analysis of you computer.

Also I suggest you limit your surfing to reputable named sites that specialize in that area.

Loading ABP only does that, loads it. You still have to select the domain names to block and how to block those domains. I have ABP installed and blocked ad domains for two days as I surfed. I rarely have to add new domains to the list.

My recommendation to properly setup ABP is to use something like msnbc as a reference and block all their ads. You can sort ABP by domain name. Block anything that has "ads" in it to this degree: www . example . com / ads / *. The "*" is a wildcard figure. (Spaces should not exist. The forum was auto linking the example)

I have no pop-ups with pop-up blockers turned off in both IE8 and Firefox.

If you want the ABP filters I already have PM me. I have it as a text file to be imported by ABP. I'll add directions in the PM.
For Firefox only.

Whoa. Just got home and got the Netflix popup for the first time ever.

I check the browsing history and it looks like "illicit browsing" is the source of it. *sigh*

Well, at least most malware written can't touch XP64. Oh, and IE7 64-bit version in XP64 still doesn't get the popup though. :D

By the way, ABP only masks a bigger problem. You went to a compromised web site at some point. You have a malicious cookie. You really need to run a product like Spybot Search & Destroy.

I think some apologies are in order to Gene and Co. by the way.

I can't reinforce the advice to run Spybot more. I advised this at the beginning of the thread. Having a program like Spybot loaded is a is important if not more important then antiviral software.

If you go to my post at the begining of the thread, I give links to what you need.

Spybot and AdAware are your friends.

If you have a PC you should be running both of these periodically...

I completely agree with TLS Guy.

We're allowing one Netflix popunder per day now on the site. If you get more it's most likely because you have cookies turned off (has no way to know you've been there before).
