Paradigm Signatures or XPA-1's for current setup??

Yes, I have .v1 Sig S4's and C3 in Rosewood.... they are really fantastic - at least to me, and I thought the .v2's were even more impressive, but they didn't offer the Rosewood finish, so I was held back from replacing my Studios in my great room until I see what they are coming up with for .v3.

I've been told they will debuting them at Cedia - and I will be there on my B-Day to see for myself.

Personally im not that big of a Magnepan, they just dont do it for me at all.

I really liked a pair of Maggies when I heard them, but the only problem was the tiny little sweet spot - like a ant in a magnifying glass IMO - Otherwise they have a pretty amazing sound to them...

Me, when I feel like you do, I don't ask others' opinions in some audio forums.
I jump in my convertible sport car, and I visit all the high end audio stores, and listen to all their new and of interest speakers. One or two audio stores per day. And I do that for a couple weeks.

So, I end up listening to some great recordings and all the newer and greatest speakers, during a two-week period of a very pleasant time. Plus I know exactly myself, from my own set of ears, where the new trend and best sound, seems to emanate from.

I'll recommend that you do something similar. Plus anytime, I want to bring a pair of speaker at home, no problem, I'm quite in good shape with all the dealers. When you leave a large cash deposit, it helps to bring these babies home. I got my big truck for the transportation of them.

Your Vienna speakers are unique and top notch, but you already knew that.

Now, vinyl, that's not a bad idea at all, actually it's a great idea.

As far as a TT yup i would like some recommendations. Im very new to the world of vinyl, VERY new. So any help is appreciated.

I have been looking at getting one of the entry level models like the Music Hall MMF 2.2. I was thinking about adding the Grado Gold cartridge to it (as i can get a good price on them). thoughts?

If you want a real step up in your amp side. You need to invest in Pro-amps paired with a DCX2496 and use REW.

That would be a tremendous upgrade in many rooms.

I would in fact suggest this upgrade before speakers. This is due to the fact that I believe your speakers are of sufficient quality to be optimized for hi-fidelity sound with the appropriate room and equalization equipment along with the know how to use it.

I wouldn't call an XPA-1 a significant upgrade. It's a step sidewase since the amps are nearly identical. Plus your talking only 3 db more headroom.

an http://www.zzounds.com/item--YAMP7000S would outperform you xpa-1 big time, but I think a single http://www.zzounds.com/item--YAMP2500S is more than enough for your speakers.

Pair it with the Behringer DCX 2496 and you can really upgrade your system's accuracy.

For room treatments there are many ways to make them look nice. I suggest some type of framed picture with the material. GIK acoustics does this for a decent cost.

The Grado Gold and MMF 2.2 would make a wonderful combo. If you however want to step it up a slight notch, you might consider Grado's Reference Platinum. Another good match to consider would be the Sumiko Blue Point No.2. Either way...it's vinyl......what's not to love?

So keeping what you have is probably not a loss. I just got back into the world of vinyl too but is already getting tired of having to flip the thing every 15 to 20 minutes. I also found the new ones too expensive. One of the Beatles just set me back almost 40 bucks.

It's a shame to hear that! For me it's one of the appealing things. Playing vinyl is an interactive experience and it's one of the things I love so much about it.

As far as paying $40 is concerned, yeah that is a lot of money. However, you can find used copies in VG, VG+, NM and, if you're extremely lucky, MINT condition at many used record shops and the occasional record fair. I've picked up some gems for like $3, $4 and $5. A good cleaning and they are beautiful to listen to.

I did try cleaning my old ones but the noise remain. The new ones are almost silent so I just keep buying new ones and stopping eating each time for a day or two after.

Anyway before someone say something we better get back to talking about speakers unless you want to tell me how you clean your used vinyls.
