Hi,I bought what should have been a kappa 12 vq but opened it and it was a 12 dvq.I plan on useing the 0-A 500 amp to push it.My question is can it be hooked up on only one side, hook it in series(and lose watts) or should I send it back and demand them send the speaker I ordered?thanks in advance for any help

I can't honestly say until we know your build parameters, but the dvq's sound quality is the same as the VQ's.

As far as wiring goes. You'd probably want to do it in series. The O-Audio isn't designed to take 2 ohm loads.

Thanks,I plan to use the Simple 12" Infinity Kappa VQ MidQ Plans that avaserfi laid out but use the 0-A amp instead of the Beringer and other x-over etc.I was just wondering if it's possiple to hook up only one voice coil to keep the 4 ohm load so I can get more power from the 0-A amp. With all this said I'm also haggleing with the company who screwed up sending me this DVQ instead of the VQ right now, hopefully they have a VQ and none of the above will happen:)

I don't suggest using a plate amp with that sub. With the Elemental Designs high pass filter and a 4 ohm stable amp you can easily drive the Infinity Kappa.

Your not limited to just a bash amp in your selection.

Do you have a local craigslist? If so see if they have any QSC amps. They tend to go for a good price.

Thanks for the info,my reasoning for going with the plate amp is for cost and simplicity and being new at this I don't know the right combinations of things to get this any other way other than the bash amp.Since I only plan on building one of these I think the most cost effective way would to build one is with the bash amp as I was under the impression that with it I wouldn't need anything else other than the wireing,is this correct? Also want to thank all the people who have contributed to these Kappa Build threads, I've spent some time reading them and really appreciate all the knowledge that you guys are willing to share.:D

Well the Bash amp is very nice, but can't provide the power needed to get the most out of this sub. It's EQ feature is very limited too.

My concern is that it won't give you the power you need. Plus you have to put it on the side of the box. You can't put it in the vent.

No, it's not okay to use just one of the voice coils.

You need to make them send what they sold you if you want use the O Audio amp, or you will be getting more like 300-350 watts from the O Audio in 8 Ohm mode.

Thanks Chris,I was away for a while.Took some time to get that DVQ swapped out for the VQ but it finally got done.I was finally able to get started on the box this weekend and wow is this thing a beast.I never really comprehended the size of the box. With the way this box has been designed along with this quality driver I am really looking forward to the day of cranking this thing up.Anyway,I do have two questions.I would really like to mount the 0-A amp in the box and not have some box sticking out on back or side.I took some measurements and it would fit behind the large cross brace/under the small cross brace. The amp would only go into the enclosure 2" ,would this have a significant negative effect or hardly any.Only other thing I'm confused about is exactly where the rock wool goes.Does it only go on the large brace and that's it.Once again,I can't thank you guys enough,I'll make a separate post and put up some pics of everything when this thing is finished.
