I'm contemplating whether or not to sell my television, and I'm wondering what you guys think I could get for it. I don't want to list it in sell your gear threads because I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it. I have a Samsung 52'' LN-T5281F. It's a LED LCD television.....It has been ISF calibrated by one of the best techs...and he is the only THX Instructor in the USA. It's in excellent condition.

Realistically, closer to $1500...IMO. Look at all the brand new 1080p displays available now under $2K.

Unfortunately, not many appreciate a professional calibration, even fewer know what it is. Of course, when they see it they may like very much.
Does it still have a transferable warranty on it?
You may still be able to 'add' one. It's worth checking out. More money out of your pocket but could make it sell much easier.

People are very skittish about used displays with no warranty. You can't really blame them.

My warranty is good...and I still have the original receipt. Samsung gives an option to extend he warranty too. As long as you have the receipt, they dont care. I've seen my television for sale (refurbished) and it was going for 2k....hmmm....Ive heard of some of the Pioneer Elites going for 1200 - 1700 right now. Thats why im tempted.

You may want to double check where you hear Pioneer Elites are going for $1,200-$1,700 as that is not realistic for a new unit...possibly a floor demo but even then. I say this as I stumbled upon a great deal at my local Magnolia where they had one new PRO-111FD left in the back which I got for $2,400---and that was a phenominal price on that unit (generally sold for somewhere around $4k with negotiation--$5k msrp)...

If you do a quick search online the cheapest I have seen the 50" models from last year (PRO-101FD) is around $3,400 and for the model I got the newer PRO-111FD -- $3,600. I don't know why my local store had the Elite priced as low as $2,400 as it is still listed at $4,500 on their website.

Nonetheless, my point being, you won't find a Pioneer Elite for the prices you mentioned---these were displays that were selling for $5-7k for the 60" models...

True...but there is no saying what your magnolia has them priced at. I was in a different Magnolia over the weekend and they were $4,500...

I know a few other places I could get it in the 2400-3000 range...seems like a lot of places are trying to clear out the Pioneer inventory.

Elite's a good move~about the only move 'up'! I think the 111FD is the only way to go...but then that's another $1K.
I pro-cal'd my Samsung too and the Elite would do best with a cal.

Regarding the warranty, might suggest a Mack, etc. as an alternative. The Samsung extensions are very expensive.

2K might be good for an 'asking price'..I'm skeptical but good luck in any case!

Why? Is it the 90 days required before your factory warranty expires?

There are others...might check around. GE has them too...not very cheap..but not as bad as the Samsung extended.
I think for my Sam plasma Samsung wanted $239 for one year extension..and for 2 it was like over $500!!

At one time, Mitsibushi was also selling extended warranties for all brands.
