Car audio question

in my experience there is always a couple things to take care of. car audio is a never ending process.

OK I think it’s done (for now) I fixed the wire for the sirius so now it has constant power like it needs. I also got both amps adjusted so no more turning off. I also got a look at the alternator wire; WOW is all I can say. On my car there is the 2-3GA wire going from the battery to the fuse box on the driver side, then there is ~8GA going to the starter, and from the starter (I don’t know why they routed it this way) to the alternator is a 10GA wire! I was going to change it yesterday but I dint have terminals so next week Ill take care of that. I’m just gonna add a 4GA from the alternator to the fuse block terminal and keep all the stock stuff as is.

Any way I also took a couple more pictures, and this time I vacuumed first

And even though the box looks like complete **** and Im going to redo it soon, here is the sub

Moving on here are the amps with the seats in and all the way forward

That’s all for now, I’ll probably keep this thread going when I re-do the box. Hopefully I can get that going and done before the real car comes back and Ill have 0 time for the daily.

Thanks, besides the box I am very happy with how it all looks and more importantly sounds. It is always nice to hear that other people apprciate the effort that goes into doing something nice and not taking short cuts.

I love car audio, it's what got me into home audio... I actually just re ran the imprint kit on my alpine cda-9887 today, and it's much better now.

Are you worried at all about the vents blowing hot air directly over the amps when the heater is running?

Other than that and the box (I'm sure it works perfectly fine, but damn it's ugly ), it looks great. You should try to find some matching carpet to cover the box and try not to transition the corners so much. Instead of the transition being so "perpendicular" from the box to the side walls, try to blend the edges more.

I'm not worried about the vents, I had the sub amp there last winter and never had a problem. These amps actually run real cool (it seems like) but then again I didnt push them hard very much. The box is ugly as hell I didnt really want to carpet it because its fiberglass and if its done right (which mine isn't) it looks very nice. I feel like carpet on fiberglass would just hide all the mistake, vs painting which will show off how well its done. I think I'm going to do it differently next time and paint it gloss black to match the outside of the car. Ill figure something cool out and document it here
