I have my first kappa port built and have started looking for the other parts. Where is a good source for the 8lb rock wool?

Thanks.

ata acoustics

FYI you don't need the 8lb stuff. the 6lb stuff is lighter and cheaper

, It's ats acoustics and I believe chris and andrew recommend the 8lb varity.

You can order an individual sheet of it and should be enough to do three, maybe four complete kappa builds.

Actually I remember Chris saying there is little difference between 6lb and 8lb rockwool. I can't recall the thread though.

But get a single sheet from ATA an you should be fine.

However I don't know about getting 4 kappas out of it. Depends on how much wool you put in the kappa I suppose. I'd cut the sheet in half and apply half the amount to each.

i think matt's forgetting about doubling the wool on the brace. 24" x 24" x 4" is essentially what one sheet equals.

Thanks PD, but I live in St Paul, MN.

So a 4" square 24"x24" on the main cross brace? Any on the interior walls?

I was only reffering to the area of 4" you would get from a single sheet.

Not the size of the crossbrace which is specified in the thread.

First cover the braces then if you have some left over add it to other areas, but only in 2" thickness or you can kill the bass of the sub.

I may have to hit you up on that at some point.

I still haven't ordered any. Wedding costs are taking their toll on the DIY budget.
