NSFW for language.

Anyway, those tips may not prevent you from getting beaten by the cops for no reason at all.

The prevalence of video cameras has opened a window on a police culture of violence and brutality that was covered up behind a thin, blue line for far too long.

If you take the video’s at “face value”, of course they’re going to look bad. Without any audio, or follow-up explanation, there’s no way of knowing why these people are getting into it with the police.

Besides, would you prefer a society without any law enforcement?

I tried to pick videos according to Haraldo's original post, i.e. that you don't have to do anything wrong in order to get beaten by the police. I also tried to pick clips that resulted in the suspension or dismissal of the officers involved and/or where large financial settlements were won by the victims. My comments were meant to suggest that in the old days, i.e. pre-YouTube, all of these criminal officers would have hidden behind the thin blue line and lied through their teeth about the events that took place, blaming the victim for an unprovoked and illegal beating.

There are many, many more incidents of brutal police beatings that may have arguably had an initial fault lying with the victim's behavior that ultimately go way, way beyond the bounds of legitimate force. Here's a couple of examples of this particular case.

Here's one where, in fact, the officer assaulted the victim completely unprovoked then charged the victim with battery to make the victim appear to be at fault, just like the old days.

Shall I go on??????????

For the record, I do support the police in all their lawful activities. Yet I have no tolerance, zero, zilch, nada, for those officers who cross the line into discreditable, unnecessary or unrestrained violence against citizens.

I hate cops.

I've gotten 2 bullshit tickets in the last 2 months. I got a speeding ticket for, (according to the cop), going 46 in a 35mph zone. I think I was going more like 40, and I was the last car of 3 all going the same speed. Also, the cop was waiting at the bottom of a hill, and there is no speed limit sign posted on the road until AFTER where he pulled me over. Then the guy has the nerve to tell me, "I didn't write you up for the tinted windows." Oooooo, lucky me.

Then, a couple of days ago, a cop pulls me over for my tinted windows!!! They're only 35%, it's not like I've got limo tint or anything!!! Complete bullshit.

I reiterate, I HATE COPS!!!

These treads are getting really annoying. There are good cops and bad cops. There are hundreds of car being pulled over everyday. We don't see hundreds of youtube videos going up everyday about them. We see a select few doing stupid **** and now all cops are bad. If you don't want to get pulled over obey the road laws. If you do you probably did something wrong so don't cause a fuss. If you get beat up by the cops sue them for millions. End of story end of these stupid threads!

The number of officers doing a good job day in and day out far outnumber the ones who do badly.

i think the OP was trying to post something funny.. and it has been taken out of proportion.

on a serious note.. being a police officer is one job that I would not want to do. It falls under the no good deed goes unpunished catagory.

In several of these cases I can understand why they got tased. Not complying with a police officers orders is going to get you in trouble very fast. Now they could have handled it more professionally, but the fact remains the police don't have an easy job. Most of us don't work a job where we can be shot at any moment. The simple fact is if you act stupid you will be treated as such. A guy won't sign the citation which is just silly. I bet you he was speeding. Yet the officer is the guilty one because the guy won't just sign and move on. If he wants to challenge the case we have a court system for that.

It seems those that messed up got fired. I don't know about you, but that's enough for me. Why people defend criminals who act like criminals is beyond me. If my family member acted like that with an officer I would chew them out not the officer. But I guess I was raised by parents that held me responsible for my own actions and not the teacher.

Now I'm off my soap box. :)

This was a funny topic why make it so serious.:p I bite on these way too much.

Darien, I’m not trying to jump on your case, but you admitted yourself that you had done wrong & were cited for it. I’ve also received tickets, but I’ve never contested any of them, nor did I give the officer a hard time – I was in the wrong, I knew it, and I took what I had coming to me – that’s the whole idea - they are law enforcement officers. But hey, if it makes you feel better:

There are good cops
There are bad cops
There are good politicians
There are bad politicians
There are good teachers
There are bad teachers
There are good priests
There are bad priests
There are good drivers
There are bad drivers
There are good soldiers
There are bad soldiers
There are good lawyers
There are bad lawyers…

…there are good people
There are bad people, and no mater what the occupation or situation, all people have flaws and lots of emotions, and sometimes these flaws and emotions come out in good ways, sometimes in bad ways.
