Kind of an odd comparison, but here's the deal. I was planning on getting an AV123 Rocket Package. But due to their ****-tastic business operation I have gone down a different road towards two JTR 12LFs for LR. I will run this setup with phantom center.

Well in the lull of time where I was thinking I was actually receiving the Rockets I ordered an XPA-5 amp because many people had recommended that amp for those speakers. Now that I'm to be using pro audio speakers I was thinking I might save myself some $$$ and get a EP2500 pro amp to match them.

Any thoughts on this?

Ok I am confused. You already ordered the Emotiva and you are going to use 5 channels for what? The Ep 2500 is a beast of ann amp that you will need to make a fan mod on and it will power the he** out of the JTR's.WHy do you have the XP-5 ?

I think he ordered the xpa-5 because he was going to get the rocket package. He changed his mine on the rockets and is now getting the JTR's.

Yes I think you will be fine powering the JTR with the XPA-5. That way when you expand youe setup you don't need to buy another amp.

The XPA-5 is a real beast of an amp. I think it'll be fine for your application there.

I think you are going to very happy with those speakers. I read another thread on another forum comparing those exact speakers(JTR vs Rockets), and basically the consensus there was that while the JTRs were twice the price, they were many more times the performance.

Of course the EP2500 is a better amp from a power perspective, but you will need to mod it.

However you can pair it with a DCX 2496 to EQ your speakers. :)

Yamaha P2500 is a better home amp IMO. Very quiet.

you could always bridge two chanels if needed:D
Just a very small correction here bandphan; "chanels" with two "n's", like "channels". ;) But even if you bridge the two "n's", the effect is still the same; so at the end, "chanels" with only one "n" has the same value, or impact as if you were bridging the two "n's" together. :D

Yeah I think I am leaning in this direction. Looks like the EP2500 will have 650 watts in 4 ohms vs the XPA-5 450 watts. I figure I may as well keep the Emotiva.
