Pioneer 1019 vs 919 is the extra $110 worth it?

These 2 are on sale at Vanns and i was wondering what i get for the extra $110 it would take to buy the Pioneer 1019. All i could tell for sure was a USB port built in for Ipod. The details for each reciever at vanns were confusing to compare. Help please!

The largest advantage of the 1019 over the 919 is that it will upscale to HDMI (1080p if you want it to) where the 919 will not. Other than that, they are very similar, even the same weight.

I believe the 1019 has an additional HDMI IN and will upscale to 1080p over HDMI where the 919 will only upconvert. It's likely your display will do a better job of upscaling anyways so unless you need the extra HDMI port, I'd go with the 919. A good alternative is the Denon 1610 which has a better amp section and Audyssey. $298 right now at Electronics Expo using the 20% off coupon.

+1 ^ Absolutely agree with rnatalli above post. The Denon AVR-1610 is a much better receiver overall; better value, better performance, better room Eq, better everything.

From page 67 of the 919AH and 1019AH operating instructions. Looks like the 1019AH has better video up conversion:

*VSX-1019AH model only
Specifies the output resolution of the video signal (when analog
video input signals are output at the HDMI OUT connector, select
this according to the resolution of your monitor and the images
you wish to watch).

1080p

ASPb (Aspect)
*VSX-1019AH model only
Specifies the aspect ratio when analog video input signals are
output at the HDMI output. Make your desired settings while
checking each setting on your display (if the image doesn’t match
your monitor type, cropping or black bands appear).
THROUGH
NORMAL

IP CONVc,d
(I/P Converter)
*VSX-919AH model only
480i/576i analog video signals are converted to progressive
signals for output.
When set to AUTO, the signals are output with the optimum
setting for the connected display by HDMI.
When set to ON, the signals are up-converted to 480p/576p for
output.
When set to OFF, the signals are not converted for output.

I am a recent Denon convert with the 1910. The audyssey setup and dynamic eq/dynamic volume is simply amazing. I would go with the 1610 without thinking twice.
