Yeah, that was when Outlaw made the bad decision of choosing DVI over HDMI.

I'm not sure Matthew, $300 now can get you a pretty nice refurb receiver with HDMI inputs,
all the newest audio decoders and with a bit more substance too, because you have 7-channel power amps as an additional extra, and pretty good bench results too.
Plus a lot of other goodies.

The Onkyo TX-SR606, for example. :)

These are much better deals, for HDMI receivers.

And besides, look at these:

* http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKTXSR606/Onkyo/TX-SR606/90w-x-7ch-HDMI-Theater-Receiver-Black/1.html --> $319.99

* http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/MARSR4002/marantz/SR4002-receiver-80w-x-7ch-HDMI-home-theater-surround/1.html --> $299.99
-> Just scroll down a bit.

Also, for only $50 more ($349.99), you can get the Marantz SR4003,
or the SR5002, or even the SR6001 (this is an amazing deal :eek:).
And for $499.99, you can get the Marantz SR7001. This is a deluxe receiver.

So now, Matthew, what was it you were saying about that dinosaur Outlaw 970 pre-pro? :rolleyes:

Hey I know it's old, but maybe for those with a spare amp lying around.

It's not a bad piece for an entry level Pre-Pro. For some of us which are not so advanced with all the new formats it's not a bad deal. I get by without HDMI inputs.

I'm a former owner of a 970 and at this price I'm thinking about getting another one for future 2 channel use. If HDMI and the lastest codecs aren't a must have, it's really a good pre-pro.

Or some Mackie's. I recall when these were the brains of some great Ht. Some of us find Blu-ray way overrated.

I've been keeping my eyes open for a good preamp for 2 channel music. For 300, that's pretty good...

I also found a great deal on this Receiver and is it good a surround processor. How is the audio quality and decoding accuracy.
