video cables in 1" conduit

Hi folks,
I'm pretty new to using component video, HDMIs and am putting together my projector and home theater. Would appreciate your suggestions reg this.
I have a 1 inch conduit between the A/V reciever and the projector, so is HDMI through a 1 inch conduit possible? I have almost given hope on this and planning on using component video, so my questions:
1. Any suggestions on running a cable for component vide thru a 1" conduit?
2. Am I losing any performance if I only use comp video, instead of HDMI..my projector is only 720p, so not really worried about 1080p as of now..

Welcome to the forum!

Component video is certainly capable of 720p, and you shouldn't have any trouble finding HDMI cables that can fit through a conduit that will fit component video cables.

What is the distance of cable that you are planning to use?

The distance is around 26 feet. I opened up the conduit and found that the head of the HDMI cable was a little tight fit, so running it to thru the conduit is almost not possible..So reading more I found the other alternative is HDMI over cat5/6.

yesterday i found another limitation, my a/v receiver is getting old, its an old kenwood HTB, doesnt have component video out as well , So my plan is to use the a/v receiver only for audio, and for video use a HDMI swithcher or a component video switcher, any suggestions on that?

You can use break away HDMI cables found at parts express but it might get costly.

Not all HDMI connectors are of the same size. I would check the inside diameter of that conduit and call a few cable companies. Be sure to ask for the corner to corner dimension of the connector.
You can also shave off some of the corners so it will fit better, unless the connector looks are important to you. This would not hurt the connector.

Hi, just a tip for running your wires through conduit is use a shop vac or any vac will do, take a string and suck it through your conduit first and than you can hook that to your wires and pull them through.

Many good suggestions above.

How many 90 degree bends (if any) are you going through?
Pipe fill is a big consideration.
How many wires are in the pipe already?

If the other solutions don’t work out; you can try ‘pulling lube.’
It’s made specifically for pulling wire through conduit.

I'm still lost on what to do w.r.t future proofing this thing - just have a hdmi, or somehow get component only..I measured the conduit inside is only around 3/4 to 0.8" in diameter..

Is that a sharp 90 deg bend or a larger radius bend?
Measure the outside of a HDMI plug. I had similar issues
Call a couple of cable companies, Blujeans or monoprice and see what they have in the length you need. As I indicated, it would not hurt to shave off a bit of the corners.

I called up a couple of them, all of the started sugesting the hdmi over cat6.that'll throw comp video out of the equation..
the other option is the 6 cable mini coax from belden I guess, but then the terminators are a challenge..

Are you sure it’s 1” PVC electrical conduit?
The reason I ask, is that 1” Schedule 40 has an inside diameter of 1.029”
Sounds like you have a piece of 3/4"

Any chance of adding another piece of larger flexable conduit, like Car-flex?

I would certainly try to pull one through. I would perhaps do a test pull with an existing HDMI cable if that would make that bend. I would pull a long string through first, long enough to pull the cable backwards if it doesn't want to negotiate that turn. To me it would be worth a try. Then, if it works, get a long cable.
Component output may not pass 720 signal or the disc may not allow it?
