Subwoofer 4 Omhs or 8 Omhs ?

1)What is the better in Quality of sound for my A/V receiver (rated 4-8 Omhs impedance)..Subwoofer 4 Omhs or subwwofer 8 Omhs of impedance?

Neither

The short answer is 8 ohm, I guess.

But in reality I would never suggest nor endorse connecting a passive subwoofer to an AV receiver. You should really be looking at powered subs or a passive sub in conjunction with an outboard amplifier.

What nibhaz said. With a powered sub, the impedance doesn't matter to your receiver, and if you are talking passive then you would typically use an external amp for that. Few companies sell passive subs these days.

Neither will worked connected directly to the receiver. You need an amp in between.

Also, it's not the ohm rating that affects a speakers sound quality. That's just an indicator of how much power it will draw from the amp under load.

I am reading about the importance of matching the impedance speakers with rate impedance of the A/V receiver to avoid Overloading...
Is important to follow the same with the powered subwoofers? If I have one receiver with Impedance Rated (6-8 Omhs) or (8-16 Omhs) and I connected One powered Subwoofer 4 omhs can My A/V receiver to get Overloading in the Future?

I think we may have a slight language barrier that is preventing us from giving you the most accurate advice. If you would post a link to the subwoofer you are considering then we could give you a more definitive answer to your query.

However I’ll answer the best that I can with what you’ve provided thus far.

AV receivers don’t care about the impedance of the driver in a powered sub, because they are not providing the amplification that will be driving the woofer. They merely provide a line-level signal via an analog interconnect, which the sub amplifier then uses to drive the sub. The subs internal amplifier may care about the impedance of the woofer that’s driving, but if you’re buying a well designed unit, hopefully someone else has already taken this in to consideration and you shouldn’t worry yourself over such details.

There is no connection between your receivers suggested impendence operating range for speakers and the impendence of the driver in a powered sub. The two concepts are unrelated.

Spot on. Subwoofer quality has little to do with the impendance of the system and more to do with the construction quality and engineering of the driver itself. For example the JL Audio 13w7 have a very low impendance yet is among the best drivers available. Similarly some of the TC sounds drivers have high impedance but are also among the best out there.

You best bet is to list out your options for us to help you evaluate your choices. Only then will be utilizing us well.

Ok this is the Deal. I found in the trash container One Techwood Powered Subwoofer model PSW109 (Without Speaker) Specifications Below. And I am asking that questions because I wish to relive this through buying the speaker to this Unit. Actually I have One A/V Sony Receiver STRDG520 (8-16 Omhs) and also I will buy another A/V receiver Maybe between in 6-16 Omhs of impedance. This is the reason of My Questions: Is Possible to use this Unit to Keep,or Not and Leave this in the Trash. I connected this and the power is On

The impedance of the speaker driver does not matter at all. The receiver LFE output will see at 10,000 ohms.

Leave it in the trash. The driver needs to be the same spec as the missing one, in terms of impedance and Thiel/Small parameters. That company is out of business and you are sol.

What you propose is a losing cause I'm afraid. Subs need to have the box build for them. Not the other way around.

On a side not I'd suggest any receiver from Denon, Marantz, HK, Onkyo, Pioneer or Yamaha.

Avoid all other brands including Sony. Sony is good at other things, but not receivers.

Again, it's not as simple as merely looking at the speaker's ohm raating. Look at what TLS guy said.
