Is BluRay Interest Waning?

A new survey suggests it is although the article does admit that the economy may also be affecting the survey results.

As a side note, I dropped my NetFlix BR service from my contract when they tried to raise the price on me. NetFlix does not seem that interested in providing the service either. Why should I pay more for limited BR service, limited BR titles, and limited availability for incrimental improvement in video quality for some titles?

I just haven't seen much that I've wanted to purchase. Now when the next wave of relases including Star Trek, Up and Transformers 2 come out, I'll be buying for sure!

What I did to save a little cash. I buy some of my BDs "previously previewed" from blockbuster. They go for around 15 bucks. Since they come in normal DVD cases(and that would screw up the look of my movie library) I bought a bunch of 2 disc Blu-ray cases on Ebay pretty cheap, and
believe it or not the artwork fits perfectly. What sucks is that they are older releases.

Star Wars, Jurrasic Park...etc

If a start seeing those come out, then I'll even buy them new. Most of the Blu-ray movies I own where purchased used.

This old adage of “waning” interest is barely hanging on to the life-support system put in place by HD-DVD fan boys. Other people read a whining rant and take it as gospel truth. Also, are the “figures” only coming from sales and not rentals?

Used for $15 for old titles isn't a deal. If you shop around you can get some older titles for $15-17 NEW online, and I rarely pay over $20 new. If it is over $20, I can wait until it goes on sale. I've been getting once viewed trades and purchases for as little as $10, rarely more than $15 except for imports.

I am finding it harder for me to replace the DVDs I have. I'd like to but quality and cost.

Well, just look at all the crap they released these days, "Striking distance", "Cell 2",...

I'm getting already bored by blu-ray, give me 4k now! :)
And release "Lawrence of Arabia", and all the good titles we want, not the ones that studios want to make money first on. Makes me so sick, I want to puke.

I am with you. The music industry made the same mistake. Instead of releasing remaster blockbusters, they kept putting out crap that no one wanted to buy.

Give me the classics in BR, at a reasonable price, and I will spend just as much on BR as I do on DVDs. If they keep screwing around, they are going to find themselves losing to an even better technology that costs less.

I'm surprised to see that prices are still kind of high. I would have thought they would have dropped some by now, but most new relases are still in the thirty dollar range. That is probably more than the average Joe is willing to spend.

What's wrong with Steven Seagal? His movies are fun.
