Well, I have almost everything up and running with the Yamaha. I love it so far. My wife was not in favor of buying it, I showed all the features, we watched a movie and it was heads above our old Yamaha setup. she likes the ability of internet radio and all the different staions, she loves it now too.

the one thing that has me bummed is there is not a connection for cassette tape player, or am I missing something?

Thanks everyone,
Lou

I do have a VCR, but I am willing to lose that for the cassettes. Thanks for the reply!

Played with some more last night, man what an upgrade from my old system!!

Thanks Bob

I do use the MD though, I have a Sony MD player, so that is out. What I may do is look into buying a DVR/VCR combined unit for the VCR and just use the VCR connections for the Cassette.

My last system was from 1992, it was a Yamaha RVX850(?).

Ok Lou, so you already used the MD/CD-R input & output, and you also used the VCR input & output. Now, you still have the DVR input & output (that's the 3rd one).

Or do you need a 4th one with analog IN & OUT?

And don't forget, you also have two digital recording outputs (Optical), that you can also use. That's a grand total of five! ;)

You must be doing a lot of analog recording! ;)

* One of my receiver has 4 analog recording sources and 2 digital recording sources; and I use NONE at all. But I must say that I spend most of my time listening, there is just ain't enough time left for recording. :)
Yep, YMMV.

Cheers,

Bob

I am taking baby steps....most of the stuff I have is from '92, so there are no digital connections, I am slowly replacing things. the MD is the only audio I have with optical in & out, the cassette and cd are analog. My VCR is analog only too.

My Blue Ray, cable are HMDI, so that is the most up to date things I have.

I did do alot of recording, I put most of my vinyl on MD, so that is why I still have that. I never thought of putting the cassettes on them....hmmm.

As for listening, I could listen to music all day, I have everything from Bach to Ozzy and everything in between. My son is an iTunes junkie, he thought that was great sounding, than I let him hear the same song on CD on the stereo, what a difference, so much fuller. He is hooked now too!

I will have to make a list for my signature of the equipment I own.

I do thank you for the information. This is the sign of a great forum, even the guys at Audioholics were great when I called and ordered the receiver.
