Gone for a couple weeks...

Hey guys, I've been out for a couple weeks. Work pretty much exploded. We decided to withdraw our TARP application to the dismay of the administration. From what I understand, the audits we're facing and having to race to address are a direct result of that. So there's that, and...

1) My wife had nose surgery to get her septum fixed
2) My daughter came down with walking pneumonia
3) I gashed my face open when my f-ing weed wacher line snapped and hit me in the jaw slicing my face down to the bone.

So anyway, I've sorda neglected my moderator duties over in the HTPC section, but I'll get back to doing what I'm supposed to.

I missed you guys!

Ouch man I hope you are okay. I can relate 100% given that I was sick myself for a tad over 4-weeks. Thus, I had a severe bacterial stomach infection. I literally felt like I was going to die. However, I was finally able to beat it. Hope nothing but the best for you and your family my friend. ;):);) Here is to a speedy recovery.

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks guys. It all started well. I litterally just walked out of the office. Met with my boss and told him I'm "going away" for a few days. It was my daughter's birthday that weekend so we packed up, brought my daughter's best friend, and we stayed at one of the resorts at Disney. The girl's hit the parks, and the wife and I hit the cabana and the pool bar.

The last day, I ended up partially tearing the tendon in my arch.. like from some drunk shannanigans since I can't recall anything specific I did. The next week Christina finished school, my wife had her surgery, I was limping around taking care of her. Christina got the flu, and I limped around taking care of her.

I take to some yard work just to get out of the house. I'm weed whacking around one of the landscape beds and I got the think turned on it's side to go around the edge and WHAM! I feel this sharp pain at my jaw. I start bleeding and just thought I kicked up a rock or something. I go inside and realize that I'm bleeding pretty bad. I take my hand away to look at it thinking I'd just need a band-aide and end squirting blood two feet out of the wound. Nancy's wiped on pain meds, so I go across the street. My neighbor comes to the door and goes "let me see"... I take the towel away and squirt blood all over her. She runs me to the ER and by the time I get there I'm already feeling dizzy. The fast tracked me and got me fixed up. I had about a 4 inch gash, with about 2 inches of it clear to the jaw bone.

I decide to go back to work. We're in the midst of a couple of different audits and inquiries... at the same time. Odd I thought. I did some asking around and it turns out the word is we're getting some retaliation for withdrawing our TARP app. Nice.

The last 3 weeks have just been brutal in one way or another. Now my daughter has pneumnia and is on massive antibiotics. We're gonna give another day or two. If things don't get dramatically better, we're taking her back to the urgent care center again. I think she's on the mend though... if I could just get her to rest.

Anyway, as soon as things settle down some more, I'll have more time to visit. We've all had our ups and downs... I think it was just my turn this time.

Wow Chris, I hope things have calmed down for you guys!
That's an amazing / unfortunate chain of events.

I thought you took all of your four weeks 'Moderator' paid vacation time, all at once.:D

See, that's just another excuse I can use to justify paying a lawn service.

That is one damn freaky accident.

I hope everything works out and you heal up OK. From personal experience, get a plastic surgeon involved from the beginning. They can keep the scarring to a minimum. Hopefully the ER had one do your sutures.

WOW! that was a some streak. Hope it all straightens out quick. I have a little chainsaw that I use for small stuff and it scares the willies out me every time I use it.

The scar isn't bad at all. The very hottest doc I've ever seen took care of it. She was so incredibly hot that I think I actually blushed and giggled. it was sick. It's just another one to add to the collection. I've got a couple good stab wound scars from my bouncer days... including a nice scar under and over my eye ... again from the bouncer days. All told, I've had well over 200 stitches last time I thought about. This recent one had several inside and 8 on the outside. I'm going to turn 40 next month... so it's a bit late to start worrying about my modeling career!

One of my favorite movie quotes... "Pain heals, chicks dig scars... glory... lasts forwever." The Replacements.

Anyway, things are getting back to normal except for work which has been taking a toll, but it's all good.

Update on your daughter's pnuemonia if you get the chance? I hope everything is going well but pneumonia can be a tough bugger to shake off.
