Upgrading the Oppo BDP-83...already?

These guys are offering expensive upgrades to the Oppo supposedly improving upon the already great digital signal this player provides. I found the link on the DVDtherapy forum's and I think some of the claims sound ridiculous!!! Anyone got any opinions?

You are right it is very "monster" of them......just more "audiophile" crap.............that word just pisses me off these days.Audiophile's will spend more money on crap that matters SQUAT, it amazes me constantly.

There probably wasn't room for the jacks anywhere.

I looked over their descriptions and I'm hard pressed to see any value in their "improvements." It is possible to take a cheaper player and improve the sound by replacing capacitors and whatnot but from what I have read so far, Oppo didn't cheap out on anything in this player.

So for a thousand bucks they'll disable the analog out section???

Looks like my BD35 without those useless analog outs was a steal at $200.

You know, I might just try this. I have a dedicated 2 channel setup, and seeing as how I'm filthy rich, and have absolutely nothing better to spend my money on . I could then write up a before and after review to see if there is any real sonic difference .

"Custom HT has been "authorized" to modify and resale the BDP-83"

When asked about the need for additional modifications,

"We personally feel that the BDP-83 is the best out of box experience you can purchase. Any modifications done to the player are tailored to the specific requirements of the customer. It is up to the customer to determine if the modifications will increase the performance of the BDP-83."
