Which one the 58PZ800U or the 850U I can get the 850 for 2500. Any help is appreciated.

I believe they are sort of meant for two different types of consumers.

The first will be more accurate OTB. The second will give you greater tweaking options to get it closer to dead on perfect, but that pretty much means hiring a pro. I'd take the 850, personally.

Can you tell me where you found that? I know Costco, at least very recently, had the 58" 800 for that price. But haven't seen the 850 for the same yet.

Hmm... I have the 50PZ850. The 850 is awesome if you're willing to put a lot of time into calibrating it yourself or paying for it to be done.

You might want to reconsider? A recent review suggested the newer Panny bested both the pz800's and the 850's. In the reviewer's opinion he claimed that a little extra spent on the newer G10's model would be well worth the added investment.

Just my 2 cents, Bill :)

PS: Here's the review from HD GURU and bandphan provided the link in a previous thread. http://hdguru.com/panasonic-tcp50g10-50-plasma-review/416/

Yeah, Bill, but when does the 58" come out, and how much will it be? I find myself advising, at least recently, to go big first, then to get the nicest quality one can afford at the given size. :D

For the moment, I find BD's native resolution to provide so much potential increase in perceived detail, that I think the finer shades of shadow might take a back seat to that (after all, the 850 is still an excellent plasma. Besides, most ambient lighting conditions will mitigate this advantage, for instance). JMO as of today.

Found the PZ800 for under 2,000 at best buy on closeout but i have to pay tax and all that good stuff. I did the name your price through 6ave asking for 2400 and they countered with 2500. How much does pro calibration cost these days?

Pulled the trigger on the 850. How good are the mack extended warranties, I am looking to buy one before my factory warranty expires. Still wondering how much professional calibration will cost?

Depends who you ask. A few have had difficult experiences, but I'm sure that's the norm. When I see the rep(s) at AVS, it seems like they want to do you right.

OTOH, I think there could be a lot of jumping through hoops.

If you do want it, better make sure you have the full length of the factory warranty to actually add the Mack on. For me, it was only one month, which I passed barely, but they were cool and let me have it.

It was only $260 for 6 years on the PJ, 3 years on the bulb, with up to 2 free replacements. Pretty killer deal on the face of it, but believe it or not, if I did it all over again, I'm not sure if I would have got it.

To cash in on my free bulbs, I still have to buy one. Then I send in filled copies of forms. From there, depending on individual experience, I'll be calling, waiting patiently, looking at my bank account weeks later for the refund . . .

People get it done, but is it worth the hassle? I don't know yet, but I might be able to soon tell you as my bulb is reaching 800 hours now. It still looks great, but I'm not sure what I'll immediately do.

But, I think of it like pot-odds in poker. So, what bandphan asked: how much is it, and for how long?

The Mack I bought is the first warranty I ever bought for any AV equipment. In fact, I wonder if it's the first time I bought any warranty period... can't remember...

Delivered

Delivered in 5 days time. My roommates were nice enough to send me quite possibly the worst picture of the TV set-up. Can the guy not hold his camera phone still? Anyway, from what I can tell the size of the screen fits the room perfectly. Now if only I could fast forward a few months.
