Hi,

I have been researching outdoor speakers to add to my new Onkyo HT9100 system. Does anyone have any suggetions? From what I have learned online most, if not all, lack in decent low frequencies. Any help is appreciated.

Outdoor speakers with wide frequency range

Hi BandPhan,

I wish to place them outside on my deck and use the additional 2 channel capability of my Onkyo receiver to run them. I've heard Yamaha, Bose, and JBL may be good choices. I've also reada that the plantar type speakers seem to offer some of the best bass around. I would like to use existing wire, that appears to be Cat5. I would place them under my eaves.

BTW - nice meeting you.

Peace

Niles Audio, Boston Acoustics Voyagers, and speakercraft would be the choices I'd consider. The Niles I linked has very good low output and easy to drive. I've had a pair of their speakers outside in the salt air for 9 years.

Wow 9 years in the sea air! Pretty impressive. Which models? I have heard Niles are good. Hi Fast1. I think spending more than $350 would be a bit too much for me. What do think of Bose?

Look for the os6.5 to be in your price range. As for bose, its up to your ears, but I wouldn't spend a dime on their products.
