"Are you happy with the sound of your Marantz SR6003?"

I am not the guy that can tell the difference between a 1985 quarter hitting the floor or a 1988 quarter hitting the floor as some of the fellows on this forum obviously can. I can tell you that the Marantz is a considrable upgrade from the Kenwood amp that I had and the SVS sub is room shaking. So bottom line I am very happy with the sound but I have also upgraded the speaker system so where do I put the lion share of "very happy" I don't know.

I will implement your suggestions.

What the heck...........an off the board question for you......any thoughts on a universal remote?
LOL. Good answer. :)

Please do reread my prior post, I just add up few things that you might have missed.

As for a universal remote, I own the Logitech Harmony 550, there is absolutely no other remotes on the market for that price that can outperforms it. It is "thee veryy beest", for the money.
It's selling for only $50 at Amazon.
Oups! The price just went up from yesterday! But is is often in sale between $40 and $50 at several places, just keep looking for it till it's about $48 or so.

yeah the Harmony remotes are a great recommendation. I own the older Harmony 880 and i freakin love it. I mean how can you not like pressing one button that turns on all your components that need to be and putting them on the right input :D

They harmony One is pretty slick, but the cheaper ones will do the same exact thing, just without the touch screen.

I cannot praise it hard enough (Harmony 550).

Yeah, I got about hundred of remotes at home. I try them all. I got remotes from all prices ($5 to $500). And my favorite one is the Harmony 550. Only cost me $50.

Why pay more for the nice sleek Harmony One (no RF frequency by the way), when you can do the same with the 550?
The 890 has RF, but who does really needs that. I own a RF remote, and I don't need it, so I never used it.
The 880 could be had for very cheap now, but why not have the smaller size 550 with very good controls well positioned and that also will do everything that the 880 does? And it does hold very well in the hand with it's rubber back. And Logitech customer service is the best bar none. It is fully programmable, adjustable, modifiable, transformable, reprogrammable, transfigurable, re-adjustable, re-modifiable, re-transformable, re-transfigurable, versatile, good looking, easy to operate, lightable (even lights when you look for it!); it's the true magic wand.

I can write a book about remote controls, and the 550 will be my top choice for excellent performance and best value. :)

My wife just told me on the phone that my Marantz SR6003 has arrived.
I'm stuck at work for one more hour...

I'm glad that last weekend I soldered the banana plugs to the cables, it's all ready to go :D

I also have the Logitech Harmony 550, for the price it is a bargain!

55 minutes left to go...

Because it has a lithiom-ion rechargeable battery that i only have to place on the charging dock once every 2 weeks ;) And the screen is easier for some people to read.

The 550 is a great remote for the money for sure, but there are some reasons to go with the slightly higher priced model.

* Hey Steve,

very true, but I only change the batteries on my 550 once every two years! :)
I used Duracell rechargeable NiMH (2,650mAh) batteries.
So, I don't have to buy any more batteries, ever! :)

Also the dock with the 880 is not the greatest (does not sit properly). A better rechargeable dock is the one that comes with the Harmony One.

If I will want to spent about $200, I will certainly go with the Harmony One.
But why? At only $50, the Harmony 550 give me all what the One will give me, and I can put that extra $150 towards better speakers. :)
See, I buy my stuff with very good thinking behind it. :)
I'll save every dollar I can, for the same performance of more expensive products, and with the savings, I improve the sound of my system. :)
How can it be better than this? ;)

Congratulations Djizasse! Your Marantz SR6003 mated with your Harmony 550 would prove to be a perfect match, just like you and your wife. :)

Don't forget to tell us your impressions of your SR6003 after everything is setup and going full throttle. Should be a very pleasing sound.

well rechargeables are another story, but the 880 is all in one. I've not had problems with my cradle, but i do know some of my clients have had issues. Like i said before alot of my clients have a hard time reading the 550 screen and the buttons are much much smaller and not as easy to "finger" for some folks, so in that case i direct them to the One, 1000, or 1100. Different strokes for different folks. :D P.S.- 880's can be found for like $80.

But again i never said to buy the harmony one, i just said if you're looking for something slick then try out the One, but i also said it does do the same thing as the 550.

I've connected and played with it for a while.
I'll save my impressions for after the weekend, when my wife and the baby are out ;)

Hey Steve, I did not know that you were a dealer or an installer.

Anyway I'm done now with remote talks. I said my peace and my message is out in the wide open web world. ;)

As for the sreen from my 550, I never look at it, I just don't need to. :)
Very true too.

And I got a second 550 for FREE. ;) So, in the end I got two for $50. :)
In my case it's good, I got 5 systems. But only three works with remotes, and I never listen to more than one at once. ;)
