Oh now I'm in this dilemma....

Tempted to scrap all DIY things and purchase two Elemental Designs A7S 450's they're on 15% discount, ending at last of May.....

18" drivers and 1300w Ice based power amps, very very much for the money..... :p
If there's not enough punch, I can always get two more of them.....

Hmm, what do you think guys? GO / NO-GO

very very undecided now, but hard to resist this.....

I almost bought two before I had the Kappas. I don't think you'll be disappointed but also look at the Epik Dragons for a little bit more money. I do believe the driver that Epik uses is the better of the two.

Thx Matt

well the Dragons' are really sth yes, but no distributors around here as far as I can see and then freight by ordering from US will be sth like.... probably around $700 - $1000 including taxes, and.... well that make it a no-no option.... trying to find surface freight that may be cheaper, but no luck this far

DIY Example: freight for 4 Audiopulse 12" Axis drivers from Parts-express over here is $699 + 25% tax  (and you can't get those drivers here)
This is also why I'm now very reluctant to DIY, coz seem to be too expensive and not viable, and what's available locally around here are too expensive or not good enough !

Exception could be the Maelstrom-X 18" that will be locally available in July for $600

So now it's possible to get ED subs round here at almost same price as in US, and that makes it quite interesting... The only other ones that I know about that can match this is SVS that also are distributed at decent prices here

Very tempting now to go the easy way and purchase high performing retail products at good discounts......

Forgot about you being across the pond.:D Yeah, that makes those ED subs look very attractive for the money you would save.

7 hrs to make a decision :p

Any ideas on how two A7-450's would compare to one SVS PB13-Ultra?
Or how four A7-450's would compare to two SVS PB13-Ultra?

mike c had issues with ED (subs that is...:D) awhile back and posted that he preferred the SVS PB13-Ultra over his ED's I forget the model #. I'm sure he would have replied but he's partnered with SVS now.

This was quite awhile ago though. So, maybe things are better now???

I wouldn't know I have never had ED (either one)...:D

well, from most posts around here people seem to be very happy with the ED products, they look like crap, but money goes into performance....

And perhaps I could send them to someone to have them finished in Ferrrari red colour
Well there is this guy around here who do these things :p .....

I hear ya, and we all know how demanding Mike is of his subs.:)

Like I said...I don't know how well they perform.

There's absolutely no question that PB13-Ultra's is way better, but they're also twice the price..... hmmmmmmm......

What kind of makes think more and more about this choice now is the discounted price combined with all the things that go into that box, impossible to find anything like this at $1k around here (yes, it's still more expensive than in US).....

I don't even think it's possile to make similar DIY sub's around here at same price, just a 1000 watt ice amp is more than $1000, and the ED has a builtin 1.3KW ice based amp.....

well looks like I decided already, thanks guys :D

Congrats harold! I'm sure you'll be more than happy with the pair. Are you going to be using an EQ.

Thx, hope they will be here soon :D
Look forward to watch the delivery guy carrying these beasts up the stairs into my house
So sorry Matt... I won't be buying your Kappa's

I certainly would be using the ED equalizer if I could but they cannot deliver here because they don't do European versions, bloody hell!...... they only do 110 V version of this
I'm not 100% happy about this coz I'm not gonna get absolutely everything out of this sub without a PEQ that can be tuned below 20Hz......

But I will be using a Behringer Ultradrive NOW, and later a Lyngdorf amp with all kinds of peq's so this is gonna be goooooooood anyways, but perhaps not 100% optimal..... but this will be great :D

Actually the greatest expectations is about my Duntech's that are absolutely incredible speakers and I can't wait to hear them with subs, when they are getting released.... from the deep bass, coz they are struggling with the bass excursions..... :D
So I expect the greatest benefit from sub's not to be in the bass, but everywhere else....
