I have tried with and without scenes selected. In either case, I just keep getting "Not Available" on the screen whenever I try to change the audio mode/decoder.
I am using my DVD player to play CDs and it is connected to receiver using a coax cable.
I am not clear on suggestions by LordOftheRings:
1. the problem is that I am not able to select any other mode (I get a "Not available").
2. My speakers are set to small with sub ON. I thought this was a global setting independent of the decoders, etc.
3. I know what DRC is. Further, adaptive DRC tunes dynamic range based on volume. What I wanted to know is what does receiver count as 'loud'. E.g., if my initial volume is 35db and max volume is set to 20db, at what volume level does Adaptive DRC have minimum dynamic range and at what level does it have maximum dynamic range.
Hi,
I made a mistake or two previously, so don't get too confused here, and forgive me.
1. Hmm... Don't know exactly what's happening here. Seems quite strange.
If you're using the digital coax. to play CDs from your DVD player, you should be able to access the various DSP modes. Must have something to do with an improper setup in the audio menu or the inputs not corresponding to the right type of connection (in this case, the dig. coax. attributed to the CD or DVD source?). Check it out.
2. You are right, not suppose to matter at all with the audio modes.
But then, I am not familiar with your 663 diffferent audio setups (like different speakers for different audio modes). Is your Yamaha configure for multichannel audio? Is the CD or DVD input set for enabling the various multichannel audio modes?
3. I don't know what implementation of loudness is in your 663. I don't think it is related in the way you figure. It is an adaptive feature level control. DRC only works normally with DD. But Yamaha goes over that I believe. It's not important to know the db level substraction, does it work to your taste?
Cheers,
Bob
