Ok, so I have received my Paradigm 20's from my AudiogoN seller and they look awesome. A few newbie questions:

Can I attach banana and/or spades to both ends of the speaker wire and input them into both the receiver AND the speaker inputs? Or does one end have to be bananas (speakers) and the other end spades (receiver?)

Can I purchase these already assembled, or do I need to attach them to speaker wire myself?

Why are there two sets of inputs on the back of the speakers? I assume for bi-amping?

Sorry for these rookie questions, but I want to get it right.

Glad to hear you got your 20's with no damage. UPS can be brutal.
I only read the responses on page 1 so someone may have already covered this but you can save some scratch not buying prepared wires. I like 14G wire and I just bought 100FT @ lowes for $30 and screw on banana plugs for $3.75 ea. It would probably be less at Monoprice but I had to have it that day and that is a good price.
If your amp and or speakers have holes in the ends of the screwdowns they probably accept bananas in those holes, banana plugs that is.
Have you ordered a receiver? I'm looking forward to your review of those 20's and the subsecquent slobbering.

I am researching receivers now, but man it's confusing.

I know I want the Audessey feature, so I guess it's down to Onkyo and
Denon. BUT. . . the Onkyo's seem to have more HDMI inputs than the Denon in my price range ($600-700) Just trying to figure out now which manufacturer of the two has the best sound and video processing. I have read all kinds of reviews and there seems to be something for the reviewer to complain about in all the models. Trying to narrow it down is brutal. I am leaning toward Onyko, but I am concerned about them running hot. Denon seems to be needlessly overpriced and provides slightly less features.

Kinda confused at this point. It's the brain of the system and I want to get it right.

I know my Onkyo 805 runs hot but I thought newer models don't have that problem. A simple external computer fan laid on top blowing down into the back of the receiver fixes that right up and it's cheap.
Any chance of posting some pics of those 20's? mmmm

If it were me I'd go with the 805 for the better amp section, it has 3 HDMI inputs and video up-conversion.

That is factory refurbished - not sure how I feel about that. Also, tell me why you have a Yamaha, Matt. Do you think it's a better receiver than Onkyo? If so, why?

If you had to buy a receiver in the $600-700 range, which one would you buy?

That 805 is suppose to be something but they don't make them anymore so the chances of getting a new one are slim, real slim. A4L is often recommended so I would think that they are very reputable and it shouldn't be too hard to look into their warranty which I assume is sufficient. Some guys really go for the Audyssey EQ.

If you're not a fan of Audyssey and/or you plan to use external amps or don't need the extra power of the Onkyo or need shorter rec'r or if you need to stuff your rec'r into an enclosed rack and can't manage the extra heat thrown off by the 805 then the Yammy is for you.

The 705 is the way to go IMO. Lacks the heat issues of the 805 and has a good enough amp section to drive almost anything. It's one of the best values made and you can pick up for 350 right now slightly used. Square trade will insure ebay electronic purchases.

I think it's 40 dollars for 3 years which exceed the manufacturers own warranty.

So for 390 you got a 705 shipped with a 3 year warranty. My friends that is a great deal. I know so few people know about the square trade warranty, but it's a slick deal. With that you can get some amazing stuff. You can bid on PJs even because you get the protection of the warranty.
