Holy Cow, ANOTHER offer...

My wife interviewed twice in one week. At 10:30 this morning she received an offer from the first place she interviewed at.

At 12:00 she was just informed that she was the top pick for the second place she interviewed at! It's stunning considering that the job market is abysmal for current and recent grads.

What makes this even better? The person with the second place told her that they thought that the first two candidates were strong and that they thought my wife being a third was just 'window dressing' for the selection process. They said she came in and 'dazzled' them one and all.

I am so proud of my wife!:D:)

Good to hear, jinjuku!

How does she feel about the two offers and the companies whom offered them?

Congratulations.

She sounds like a treasure, and a good worker at that. In this day and age, getting two offers in that short a period of time is virtually unheard of.

If I may ask, what does she do?

My wife is a Ph.D from the Higher Education program at the University of Michigan. She graduated in 2008. While she has had a post doc (thank god) she has been looking for a year plus.

So we are now waiting for the second offer from a school in PA (this will arrive Tuesday).

One is an assistant director and the other is a tenure track professorial position. Talk about having two realities to choose from for the rest of your life. YEASH! Makes you think very hard.

The assistant director position would be more staff/administrative and a normal workday.

The tenure track positions are a bit more 'brutal'. Tenure isn't a given either. Tenure review is around the 5-7 year mark depending on your performance. Also summers you have off.

Definitely an apples to oranges comparison and both have their + and -'s.

Then there is quality of life given the locations. We have been thinking non stop about the long term consequences of our next decision.

Maybe there’s some good juju in this thread - my wife landed a job yesterday too!

Give a big thanks to Mrs. Jinjuku for us :D

Congrats to both!

While I would prefer a new job, I am happy to have a fairly stable job right now.

Great news and congrats too:D
I would think that only two to pick from may be or should be temporary? A life long job in one place with such education may be a rarity?
