Help me design a box for the DIYMA 12"

I am looking to get this subwoofer and would like to have it in a ported box. I have looked all over the net trying to find a ported design for this sub. With no such luck. I was wondering if any of you guys have come across one or could help me design one.

What draws you to this driver? There are far more capable drivers available. Check out the clearance on ebay of DIYMA 12" subwoofer. This is a far more capable driver; superiority linearity, power handling and excursion. I have seen the Klippel motor analysis of this driver and it's an extraordinary deal. I have also seen the Klippel motor analysis of the Dayton, and while it's good, it does not match the DIYMA.

With the research I have done for a 12in it seemed to have good price per performance. I mainly will be using it for music I also need it to sound good for movies. I looked up the DIYMA 12" subwoofer and the price is the same basically.

The Diyma is the better performer.

Well I took your advise about the DIYMA 12" subwoofer. I actually picked up 2 for 200 shipped. I could not pass that up, that is like 75 dollars ea. considering it cost 25 ea. to ship these big things. Now I need to build a box. From what I have gathered ported boxes are capable of going lower than sealed, correct me if I am wrong. What would you guys recommend for these subs ported or sealed. Also how much volume would you recommend. I wish I knew enough to run a enclosure modeling program. I guess I might have to learn.

I like the looks of a

4 cuft box tuned to 18hz with a 20hz high pass filter.
with a 3 x9.5 x 55 folded slot port.
For ideas on how to build such a box reference the Kappa perfect MidVQ build.

You may need a bit of eqing. But a DCX paired with an EP2500 will provide everything you need to run the sub.

Thanks for the reply. I have been finding mixed views on how accurate the spec sheet is on these subs. I know the best way would be to get a tester for a 100 dollars to test them. Then build the box around that, but I really dont have a extra 100 laying around right now. So besides doing that has anyone herd of anyone testing these to see how close to spec they are. So without testing what size of enclosure would you guys recommend.

You are looking at a minimum of 200 dollars to power the sub and that's a used ep1500.

You are also looking at a DCX 2496. 2 sub need integration and there are not a lot of device to handle that. Now another option is BFD, but it requires you go purchase a subsonic filter separately. It may be the the method I use since I want to look at low high pass filtering

I am planning as of right now to use a Crown CE2000 it does 660watt at 4ohm and has 2 channels. Thanks for that link for how to use WinISD helped out alot. I have 2 sub channels on my sunfire Theater Grand 2 pre amp. I can al least control the range that goes to them with the pre amp. I am hoping I should be able to control them with that untill I have enough money for a DCX2496.

I got both the subs today already, talk about fast service. Anyways I am really excited to get these things fired up. But I still need some help in making a box. I was recommended by the guy from DIYMA that sold me these to use a vented box for HT use. I just need to figure out how much volume and type/size of port I need to use. Also can a moderator help me change the title to this post help me design a box for the DIYMA 12 instead of the Dayton.
