Auto-off problem!!!

I just recently bought a Mirage Prestige S10 Sub and a Mirage MM-8 Sub. I have them connected to my receiver through a Y adaptor. The "blue" power indicator light remains on even though no signal is being processed.

I know it is not a cable problem because my last Sub powered off just fine. Hopefully some of you "YODAS" of the A/V world can put your head together and help me figure this out. These subs sound great I would hate to lose them since they are just a day old.

What happens when you pull the input cable from the subs? What happens if you switch off the receiver with the cable connected? Are you getting any hum from the subs?

When I turn the power on and off my receiver while the subs are connected nothing happens. When I pull the cable out of the subs nothing happens I get a loud hum if the cable end touches the sides of the LFE in, but that is all. I don't know if maybe the power indicator lights are supposed to stay on all the time, but I don't think they would.

What does the instruction manual say? It sounds as if that is the way they are supposed to work. The fact both subs do the same thing means both subs are very unlikely to both have the same fault. I bet the answer to your question is in your instruction manual.

It is possible your sub does not have an auto off, as the quiescent power consumption of a lot of class D amps is minimal, and they may not have put one in to save dollars.

I've read the manual at least 4 times. The subs have a switch for main power, and one of them little silver toggle switches for on, off, and auto. If for some reason the power does stay on would this some how eventually ruin my subs.
I am going to call Miragespeakers.com to get the support staff on this problem. Hopefully there is somebody on their staff that has experience on this matter, which sometimes is not the case. I figure between them and the AudioGods here I will resolve this matter.

Set the switch to auto and you will be fine. The light must just show, that the sub has power at the mains cable.

If you disconnect the input cable from both, does the status indicator go off? It should take over 5 minutes. If it does, connect the input on only one sub. If it goes off after no input for about 5 minutes, connect the second sub. If it no longer turns the subs off, you may have an issue with the electrical wiring, even if it doesn't hum when the cables are plugged in.

As TLS posted, make sure it's set to Auto ON.

I disconnected them and the lights are still on. I am on hold with Mirage Speakers Support right now. Lets see what they say. I will post what their solution is. You guys are probably right anyways. I'll let you know. Thanks again.

I was told by Mirage support, well , first unplug it from the receiver to see if even though the receiver is off a faint signal is getting through. Then to go into my subwoofer settings and see if my gain is set high. That I should adjust it because maybe a small signal is still going to the sub. Is there any chance that my cable are picking up interference and that is keeping the subs on because they are confused between interference and a true signal?

Before I built my kappas I had two Cerwin 15 " subs and they always stayed on the indicator light would be red when no lfe is present then turn green when the receiver was turned on ,maybe you subs are in standby mode.

Yeah that's what my old Klipsch used to do. According to the manual they are blue for on and no light for off. I'm at work and all I can think about are these subs. I can't wait to go home and work this problem out. Thanks!

Well here is the verdict. I talked to Mirage support. They told me to turn off the gain to the subwoofer (which I didn't know was on) auto calibration :( He said some signal might come through even though receiver was off, whatever? It worked, for the S10. As for the MM-6 the light stayed on, and it still is. It is supposed to be!!! The Tech manual he said is wrong, go figure. So I just would like to thank you all for the advice. I have a Mirage MX 5.1 review to submit so if there is any mirage fans, keep your eyes open.
