I'm thinking about buying these speakers because they look really good, and supposedly sound really good? Has anyone heard/bought these? If so, tell me your thoughts.

As a KEF owner I can tell you their speakers are my favorite. I suggest you get a pair of iQ5s not 7s.

Why?

1. Better Midrange
2. Cheaper
3. Smaller
4. Lighter

7s aren't a step up IMO.

If you want to do surround sound get a pair of iQ8s and a iQ6 to complete the set.

check onecall.com, vanns.com, and accessories4less for the best prices on Kef products.

Then, is the Iq7 probably more money just because it has a lower frequency response then? As long as there is just a low frequency difference between the iq5 and iq7, i'll go with the iq5's since i have a sub.

I have a set of IQ3s....bookshelf units that wont have as much bass, but similar array...They are in a 13' x 13' office. Frankly, they sound thin, small, and isolated run on a Yamaha RXV995 which sounds good with a number of other speakers. I have some 10 year old Yamaha speakers that came with shelf sytem which sound better. I picked them up for $289/pr and would not buy them again...See if you can audition in a room about the size of yours before pulling the trigger. They do look nice and appear well made, but lightweight magnetic structure...

That surprises me Tom. Did you cross them with a sub.

I do agree with the audition part though. Do that for everything.

Yeah, 10" sloppy Klipsch sub....The older Yamaha has a fixed 90Hz crossover. But, I would expect better when I run them 2 channel for music only...
