My system:

Samsung 52" LCD (LN52A650), Denon AVR 2809CI, PS3, Polk RTI8, Polk Csi5, Polk Fxi A4, APC AV H15 1.5kVA H, HDMI 1.3a, SVS PB12-Plus (ordered)

If I were to want to upgrade my speakers, what brands. I have always been a polk guy but i am sure there are others that beat polk. I would live some advice about dowsizing to smaller surround sound system with somthing like the mirage omni size (is that going to give goo sound), it must that sound big, and advice on new speakers that are similar in size to my current system.

thanks

What are your room dimensions? What is your budget for the speakers? Are you looking to just replace the left, right, and center speakers or are you looking to replace your fronts and surrounds?

What is it that you like about your current speakers, and what is it that you don't like (or is it mostly just the size)?

Dude, you have a big room. I am not sure if going smaller makes much sense at this time. After you move it might be best to look around. Your room dynamics play a major role in what size speakers you can put in the room. You will have tons of options for your budget range and there are lots of good speakers out there that are bookshelf size that can yield great sound. In the meantime (before you move) I would recommend researching:
SVS
Emotiva
HSU
Axiom
Kef
NHT
PSB
Ascend
Aperion
etc

All of those companies make excellend bookshelf speakers. And if you do go the bookshelf route make sure you spend a nice chunk of that money on a good dedicated subwoofer. A few brands to research:
Elemental Designs
SVS
HSU
Epik

If I wanted small boxes, I might look at Paradigm Atoms or PSB Alphas.....then make sure the sub is good one from SVS or HSU since it will cover bit more of the lower range.
