So this is what I am thinking...

I'm working on a setup for the family room... budget of about 500$ (I know, it's not a lot but it's just the family room, and we really don't have much money to toss around...) The Living Room has a completely different setup, and it will get it's own upgrade once I finish the HTPC.

Receiver: SONY STR-DG520
Front L/R: SONY SS-F6000
Center Channel: SONY SS-CN5000
Rear L/R: SONY SS-B1000
Sub: SONY SA-W2500

This will give me a total of about 450$ --- so I have some extra cash for cables and such...

Are there any (better) alternative to what I have there, for about the same price? The receiver is 159.95$, the Front L/R's are 184.95$, the Center is 81.90$, the Rear L/R's are 25.99$, and the sub is 98.95$...

I would just skip the sub altogether and use the then $150 to get geared up to be able to make inter connects. With multiple systems and moving stuff around, being able to make your own cables should save you enough money to be able to get a better sub. I don't think $100 subs are worth owning and that's coming from a guy with a $200 sub so it's not a matter of me being snobby. :)

Thanks for the suggestion :D Since you're the only one to reply so far, I think I will just skip out on buying that tonight
