I'm an avid fan... watch it loyally every Wednesday and have all the episodes Season 1-5 ...

Anyone have any good discussion regarding the progress and status of the series, or (more specifically) the current running season?

CAUTION: SPOILER ALERT --- Even though nobody knows what really is going on in Lost, and finding out something about the show that you don't yet know will highly unlikely help you unravel the mystery of The Island, I am providing this notice because I know I would be dang pissed if I learned something before seeing the episode. (Thanks, dkane ;)

Most deffinetly.

I have some questions, and maybe someone else can provide insight.

Why didn't Sun go back in time with the other Losties? I tried to understand this, and still haven't come to a logical conclusion. I can see why Benjamin and Locke didn't go back, but why Sun???

I think I may have figured out a few things...
The Others knew that the Ajira flight was going to crash! They were building a run way in season 3 (with Sawyer and Kate helping)... that's a dead giveaway to me.

And so... do they know that Oceanic 815 was/is going to crash?

Hence the reason they know they had to take certain passengers?

It's all crazy...

well the default answer to most questions would be that the island wanted it to happen a certain way lol. ill have to rewatch some of the episodes, because i feel like i knew why she stayed behind.

if they knew the plane was going to crash, then why would they build a runway? I think it mightve just been for bringing in supplies I guess.

i thought i remembered that they said they took certain people because they were a threat. idk that was a long time ago.

i feel like there are alot of things that happen in lost that connect with each other, but arent touched upon enough to stay current in my mind. before the series finale, im going to rewatch every episode lol. im really curious about the statue feet though.

It seems like Jack, Kate, Hurley, Saiyid…landed on the main island during the crash. Ben & Sun ended up on one of the neighboring islands, which for whatever reason didn’t have them jump back in time. Yeah, my wife an I really dig the show too.

As to the whole statue thing…I really hope they’re not going to spring a corny “Atlantis” thing on us.

I don't think it would be Atlantis because that seems too obvious, although it does seem like they could make it that way. Besides the temple and the statue foot, theres really nothing else that could resemble atlantis that we've seen though.

My wife and I never miss an episode. I'm going to refrain from reading this thread to avoid spoilers because we have yet to watch last weeks episode.
LOL....it's still sitting on the DVR.

I am a HUGE Lost fan! I have followed the show from the start. Not really sure why one question is answered and then later followed by even more questions. Always leaving me in the dark so to speak.:confused: Perhaps, this is why I still watch it-who knows. :p:p But, with such a great cast and plenty of eye-candy who could really complain right? :D:D

Cheers,

Well, I have been re-watching Season 2 before going to bed (I've got the episodes on my iPod, so I tend to watch a couple before passing out)...

I think a major factor in the survival and lives of the Lost crew and the Others, plays majorly into "the incident" that is about to take place in the next couple weeks...

(The next Lost episode is entitled, "Follow the Leader", then followed by the season finale, "The Incident Pt. 1" and "The Incident Pt. 2"...

The Swan is a major factor, that is for sure... but what about Desmond? He is obviously alive, and the Island obviously needed him to push that button -- then Dan Faraday's mother comes along and says that Desmond must return.

And what is up with her, by the way?! She goes and shoots her own son?! And how did she come to be on the island, and how did she get off the island?

And from what I understand... Faraday and Penny are half brother/sister, or full brother/sister? Charles and Ms. Hawkings seem to have some sort of connection that we don't really know about just yet. Could this be the reason that they were sent away from the island?

It's very confusing!

Love to hear what others have to say.

i dont think faraday's mom knew it was him, but i think she definitely knew when she sent him to the island. in my opinion, i think shes one of the most interesting characters.

faraday and penny are half siblings i think. eloise said "you're daughter is in there" at the hospital to charles and not "our" daughter. but when eloise mentioned daniel, charles was quick to mention that he was both of theirs...then she slapped him. lol. so maybe they were having an affair and they vowed never to bring it up?

Those crazy Other's... lol... maybe affairs are the reason they got kicked out. Haha.

By the way...

Where in the hell is Claire?!

All very interesting points here. Which, as I mentioned in my previous post, leads only to more questions. Obviously, everything is inter-related somehow. On the surface, many look to be related but living separate lives. However, it is also apparent that things are very complex in how they relate to each other. One building on another and so forth. But, how does the time traveling relate to all of this is a much better question imho. Personally, I find Ben the most interesting character of the bunch. That is, one minute he is a real nice good guy, then later only to be a murderer.:confused: Guess, we all will know soon enough. I believe there will be another season or so before we all will get our answers. The anticipation is very much killing me though.:D:eek:

After this current season (there are two more episodes left), they are doing the season finale (season 6) and then that is it.

I knew from the beginning that time travel was going to be a factor in this show. My thoughts became concrete after seeing season 4. . . from what I understand, the time factors that we see are all legit...

After leaving the island, Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Aaron and Sun live their lives in the present for 3 years.

While the island is in it's hyper-active mode, Locke gets sent to the present with the Oceanic Six...

After turning the wheel, the island gets sent back to the seventies... where the remaining Losties spend three years of their lives.

I think Sawyer is being pretty freaking ridiculous in blaming all of the goings on on Kate, Jack, and Hurley returning... the Oceanic Six were living lives, also... it's not like their ideal situation involved going back to the Island.

And why the hell does Hurley keep taking Charlie's guitar with him everywhere?

That is a very good question. My guess is, Charlie will play a much larger role when things come to an end. The same can be said about Desmond. However, I still get this good guy vs. bad guy or good vs. evil theme though. The question is, who are the good guys and who are the evil ones. At first it seemed like it was the "Others" that are the bad guys. However, now it seems that is NOT the case. Once again, the same can be said about Charles Whitmore. See, here we go again leading to more questions. Lastly, what about the children? Why are they taken? Where do they go and what becomes of them? Every time a significant question is answered, we end up with more mysteries. This results in chasing the carrot so to speak. But, how much longer can the writers get away with it? Many I know have grown tired of that theme. There are also way too many commercials imho. For some reason though, I keep tuning in.........LOL!!!!!! :):)

I've got a feeling that a lot of the questions that are brought up, are never going to answered... I think the writers just want us to go on watching the show in blind faith... making our own assumptions and guessing what certain things mean.

I do, however, think that the Good Guy / Bad Guy thing will eventually be answered. Something in Season 6 may show us that... but as for now, we are just going to have to keep wondering.

In the end, I think it will be The Others that are the good guys (even if they have to be the bad guys in the process)... they seem to have extraordinary powers (brining the dead back to life, lack of aging...) and I think those powers help them keep the world safe. The fact that the Losties came into the picture threw things askew for them...

One of the prime questions regarding Lost was the numbers... it was never answered in the show, but if you played through all of the Lost games that have been sponsored, you learn about the numbers (The Valenzetti Equation), along with Sri Lanka (The location where Widmore got all of the dead bodies for the plane)... and numerous other things.

If you want to delve into it more, LostPedia is a great place to start.

The book, Bad Twin by Gary Troup, also helps you understand a little more about the characters and situations in Lost. It's a fairly good read, and even Sawyer got into it early in Season One :p

I know a lot of people make a big deal about Kate, but Claire…

Yummy. Also, Amy who just appeared this season in a small role (she was on 24 a while ago) is my all time favorite red-head.

You make for some interesting points here. I agree in that many of the so called mysteries will not be explained. As you mentioned, the reason being it is what the audience defines it(mysteries) as. Kinda keeps the imagination going. However, we will know soon enough. Only time will tell.

Phil
