If she bought them with her own money then thats her right. If she used a taxpayer based expense account then I have a gripe....

Some people just can't win!

What's so ironic? What's she supposed to do dress in rags so that everyone will think she's relating to the recession? Then you all would come on here & still put her down.

She's got the money, let her spend it anyway she want's. At least she worked for it & didn't get it from welfare!

what is wrong $100 dollar pair of sneakers:rolleyes: The irony is there and yes public perceprtion has alot to do with the programs that are being sold. Agian I dont care what she wears, but Matt Drudge tought it was interesting enough to headline it for thought, and thats what it.

The post wasnt meant to be anti Obama sorry if anyone takes that from it,

Bingo. I totally agree. Spending tax payer money to dress appropriately at events is fine by me, but $540 for designer shoes does not fit my definition of appropriate for volunteering at a food bank. If it's her money - more power to her.

I could go on and on about how I can't understand why anyone would pay that much for shoes, but I need to get back to recommending my $1400 subwoofer to some new members. :D

Yeah, but she'd end up buying Bose (much to the chagrin of her husband who wanted an SVS). :)

And here are the facts from a very interesting site.

http://www.presidentsusa.net/presidents_salary.html

"The Obamas may have a talented executive chef on staff to cook their meals, but that doesn't mean the presidential kitchen is completely complimentary to the first family. People magazine reports that, with the exception of official dinners, the Obamas are responsible for all of their food, drink, and dry-cleaning bills. The expenses are deducted from President Obama's $400,000 annual salary. They might be the first family of the United States, but they have everyday expenses, just like us!"

Needless to say this applies to ALL Presidents & their families.

If she bought them with her own money then thats her right. If she used a taxpayer based expense account then I have a gripe....

Was it to have the owner make them pizza or to have the owner eat pizza that they liked better...so that the owner could learn to make it? :) After all, they'll be back in Chicago at some point.

Jealous much? So they have money to spend on things they like & want & you don't. So do you hate all rich people, and condemn them for what YOU think as excess spending?

At least they can/do pay for it. A dictator like Hussein would have kidnapped the owner, forced him to make it then killed him afterwards.

Again they earned/have the money to spend, let them spend it however they want.

Me jealous? That's funny, I don't envy money or the way its spent. ;) I was very lucky to grow up very well to do and have made and lost more money than many have seen, I respect the value of hard earned money. Glutney and Sloth are still sins in the eyes of some. If the Os want to spend their money anyway they want that's fine, just don't tell me what to do with mine..... That's your irony. If anyone wants to discuss this with anger please PM me , this is the steam vent, not the stick up for my man forum without thought forum.
