Simple Subwoofer Jack Question

I'm in a new Prewired home for Surround sound and my subwoofer cables, of which there are 2,(?) are not attached to any jacks.→ The wires are bare.
What type of connector/jack (model #?) do I need to buy to be able to crimp/connect onto this sub wire so I can plug it into my sub's in-jack.
Is it a simple RCA type?

No I just need the SINGLE jack/connector end to connect to the pre-wire coming out of the wall.....

What kind of wire? It should be RG6 or RG6 Quad Shield (the kind of wire for cable TV/satellite).

That is perfectly acceptable for using as a sub cable but the ends need to be terminated either with RCA connectors OR with F-pin connectors and an F to RCA adapter.

It all depends on what you want and if you will have a wall plate with a jack to connect to the sub or not. In my house, the RG6 is terminated with F-pin connectors and it goes into a wall plate that has an adapter that accepts F-pin on the back and RCA on the front. The subwoofer cable just plugs into the RCA jack on the front of the wall plate. If you don't use a wall plate, you could terminate the cables directly with RCA connectors.

You can buy compression fit connectors but you'll also have to buy the specialized tools to do it right. It's easier (and about the same cost) to just call the cable company or a local AV installer to do it for you.

Just looked again and as well as the bare end RJ6 cable there is another wire (green,red,white and black) wires. Is this another speaker wire? ► It's NOT 'power'
→ is it??
Which is the best to use.... ??

Damn..its been awhile (6 years) since I've hooked stuff like this up--- and the brain forgets easiily.

Yes, those are generally used for speaker wire. You want to use the single RG6 for the sub.

I have a similar situation, I have an old dolby pro logic receiver with no subwoofer preout, but it does have speakers a & b. I can use the speakers A to run my bookshelf speakers, but could I use the speakers b output and something like that JL product linked above, to convert the speaker wire to rca, then use a y adapter to create a single rca input for my SVS PB10-NSD? I'm currently using the high level inputs on my Dayton 12" sub, but I would prefer to use the SVS which only has a single rca input jack.

Yes, they often run speaker wire in addition to RG6 for flexibility in case you use a sub that only has high-level inputs or want to have other speakers at that location. My house has two RG6 and two 16/4 speaker wires run to the sub location.

By the way, now would be an excellent time to label each of the wires as you discover what they are and where they go.

Hummmmmmmmmm

Ok so bad news- I connected the two ends of the RG6 with a twist on TV Coax F connector plug. (CF-59TO)→ then to an F to Phono adapter (278-252) all from Radio Shack. (Both ends). Plugged 'em in and all I get out of the sub is a loud hummmmmm.
Tried another phono cord connected by itself & it tests that the sub sounds perfect.
What on earth have I done wrong. ?

If you connect the power amps together with a Y adapter, you will destroy the amps immediately. There are only two amps, and even if the amp did not blow, which it will, you would have mono sound.
