I'm trying to set up a (second-room) 5.1 system with a Yamaha V363 and the following inputs: Blue-Ray/DVD/CD; Xbox 360; VCR (yes, VCR), DVR/cable box.
Problem is, the V363 has only 2 HDMI and 3 component video inputs, and won't map analog video input to HDMI output. So it looks like I have to hook up both HDMI and component video outputs to the TV (older Sony Bravia) and then need to switch TV input channels when switching input sources.
I'm trying to find a single remote that will do the following with a single 'click':
Turn on the TV and set it to the appropriate input.
Turn on the V363 receiver and set it to the right mode.
Turn on the component (say DVR).
This way I'll be able to switch between all four inputs with a single remote and hopefully single click. I'm trying this with the 'universal' remote that came with the (Comcast) DVR and am not getting much of anywhere.
Can anybody offer some advice or point me to an article on choosing and using 'universal' remotes? Is my 'single click' for switching inputs just wishful thinking?
Thanks in advance.
