Home Theater Tune Up by Ovation. Should be able to find it cheap. Has both audio and video calibration.

I like to use "The Matrix" lossless audio shoot out lobby scene till the helicopter explosion. Just a cacophony of highs and lows, great surround sound and overall testing of speakers and subs.

I also use Master & Commander the first 15 minutes, hearing the creaking of the ship to the 18lb cannonballs smashing through the hull also another good one.

The final one I use is Guillermo Del Toro's little know movie called "The Orphange" in lossless audio, the scene where the psychic is in her trance and is walking around the house in a daze. Wow does this five minute scene test out all channels with voices and sounds and make you jump like crazy when the pounding comes.

Best Set Up scene (Camera Montage)

Ahhh... I thought you meant Setting up a scene (camera angle...).

Anyway, I will follow from my original understanding:

[Claudia Cardinale arrival at the town's train station, before meeting the driver that will bring her to her husband's ranch].

From the movie "Once Upon a Time in the West", directed by Sergio Leone.



Another one:

[The car under attack by the motorcyclists and the gang of punks on a deserted road].

From the movie "Children of men", directed by Alfonso Cuaron.

P.S. One very good scene on DVD for testing your surround sound system to the limit, would be the dts version of "Saving Private Ryan", in particular the first action scene when they disembark ashore from the ships. Try it at reference level.

For Music DVD, I like "Mickey Hart - Planet Drum" also on dts. Crink it up.

One SACD also that I like for testing my surround sound system is "Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon".

And for a DVD-Audio, "Beck - Sea Change".
And also on DVD-Audio, "The Best of Mickey Hart - Over the Edge and Back".
Another DVD-Audio, "Linkin Park - Reanimation".
DVD-Audio again, "Metallica" (Their Live Black Album starting with "Enter Sandman").
DVD-Audio once more, "Steely Dan - Everything must go".
And also, "Blue Man Group - Audio".

Blue Man Group - The Complex DVD-A is very good also. The Black album on DVD-A is not live.

On SACD, besides DSotM, Roxy Music's Avalon and Dave Brubeck's Concord on a Midsummer Night are both excellent as well.
