This time I'll be building the boxes properly. They will be sealed, braced and use rockwool insulation for their sides. The box is being constructed from a Particle Board, Constraint Layer, MDF design. On the interior I plan to use 2" thick rock wool insulation on all sides and an extra 2" on the back. I plan to experiment with using different glues for this. I couldn't stand 3m 90, but have learned that elmer's carpenter glue works for fabric to wood joints as long as bleed through isn't an issue. Though I may use something else. I found the sprays to be bad choices in my windy work area.

I'll post the overall plans tonight. I also plan to makes the first particle board cuts tonight as well.

I plan to substantially document the build and will probably create a link of all the pictures.

Go to a big box store (or wherever) and look for Weldwood Contact Cement. It's used mainly for laminates but it comes in a quart or gallon can, like paint. Same kind of lid. I use a lot of it (Oh, the colors) and it works without overspray, etc. Just brush or roll it on, let it get tacky and stick the insulation on.

I buy boxes of cheap natural bristle brushes for this. If I have a large project, I use a small diameter white foam roller. The rollers are shorter than the kind for painting walls but are still in the paint department. They're usually for detail work and getting behind things.

Looking forward to seeing these as well,I think I want to build my speakers for the entire HT I would match the sub laminate and it would look really hot,now that I know we can swap drivers if we ever want or feel the need my sub boxes will be the basis for the rest,definitely very cool stuff.

It can but I only do it with good ventilation. I have used it in small spaces but at this stage, I generally try to consume, inhale and touch as few nasty chemicals as possible. For this kind of stuff, I also have a respirator with activated charcoal filter elements.

yep. and it takes a while to dry.

It can, but if the temperature is over 65F, it's not too bad. It holds well, though. I have done quite a bit of laminate work (including my own kitchen counters) and specifically, the Weldwood cement has worked very well.
