Contrast ratio is kinda low IMO. I don't suggest this Projector for home theater use. I think even a 720p model with a higher contrast ratio would have a superior performance. For only 300 dollars more you can get a Sanyo 1080p with a superior contrast ratio.

I am currently researching projectors to buy and this seems like a good deal despite the contrast ratio. Is the better contrast worth $300 more?

Yes. That Contrast ratio is equal to MY PJ which cost me 300 dollars. including the extra lamp.

Get a Sanyo 1080 HD from Amazon if you want a cheap PJ. It's 1500 with free shipping
