I just watched this with the subtitles and realized at the end of the movie that you could set the audio to English. My g/f is bullsh!t over this. :p:D

This is a must see for John Garcia and Darien. They probably own it on BR.

So, do you recommend it to the rest of us?

As for the subtitles, I'm actually a fan of watching movies that way. I like hearing the original audio and not the (usually) poorly done dub job.

How many people here think that Alex rented that movie because he misread the word "flower?" ;) :D

At first I thought 'blower' but it didn't sound right. Golden ...... Shower !!! :D

This movie would actually get my highest possible recommendation. I understand that I did the right thing but it was an accident and I didn't cover very well when it was brought to light. Both of us agree that we watched it in the better language so that we could hear the actors' voices but I lost some 'man in control' points is all.

My love of reading was based on my appreciation of a good tale. Now with movies I will seek out films with great audio and video. The stories are kind of taking a back seat. Not with this film though. There's plenty going on and it's chalk full of eye candy. I wonder if it's on Blu ray.

Did I mention the eye candy? :)

If you watched that movie On bluray with the original Catonese audio you get the true Lossless audio, with dubbed all you get is Dolby Digital. I actually prefer the subtitles with original audio. Way better. Very good movie, but felt Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or Hero were better movies.

Of course I have this on BD!!! Gong Li and tons of other hot Chinese girls in Hi-Def, that's a no-brainer. I even saw it in the theater. Cool movie, but I'd never watch it in English.

Yes, I own it also, and I think there is a thread on it as well. Amazing video quality on this one, as well as great audio. I prefer to watch foreign films in the original language with subs as well.

Looks like that came from Matthew B. But he's right. Hero is an AWESOME movie!! Absolutely incredible cinematography, but that one's not out on BD yet. Neither is Crouchin Tiger, I don't think. Both movies have Ziyi Zhang, (yummy), Hero has Maggie Cheung and Croching Tiger has Michelle Yeoh.

Why don't we just call it what it is? ... Crotch Tiger! :D

I can't believe I had that all mixed up like that. This has been happening to me a lot lately.

Edit: I don't have a Blu ray player yet.

If you don't have a BD player, then just rent the DVD's. I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed. Hero and Crouching Tiger are both great movies.

Might as well add House of Flying Daggers as well. Though not quite as good as Hero or CTHD, I still enjoyed it. It has Zhang Ziyi also.

I saw this movie OnDemand sometime last year and I must admit, this movie would look insane on Blu-ray. Via Comcast, it had a lot of smearing and blocking artifacts.

Pretty good flick and they handled the CGI appropriately.

Gotta watch House of Flying Daggers for the drum scene and the end fight in the snow.

Indeed it does. Some of the palace interior scenes have such vibrant and bold colors, that it's like an acid trip.
