Yes it can be fixed and is a great price. Channels can be bridged for higher output. Nice distribution amp.

Did you get that amplifier?

I have an SI-275, it's a great two channel amplifier.

Sorry... just now saw this... Didn't buy it... It was pretty beat up. It would have ended up in a closet..

Darn, how bad was it?
It honestly wasn't that bad.. I just knew it wasnt a piece that I really had a reason to have right now... The price was right, just not right for me...

Buy & resell it online. I've done that numerous times with local craigslist finds. Unless it looks like it lived its life in a war zone, $60 is a steal for that amp.

Yeah, I know... I dont like dealing with flipping stuff... I'd much rather let somebody that wants it pick it up as cheap as possible. It really was a good deal... I'm sure I'll kick myself someday.

Yeah, I'm joining you at kicking him. ;)

And with his screwed up address, it's a pain in the butt to read all the threads where he posted, because of the width.
Very inconvenient on my computer anyway.

And as for the amp, it's on sale right now at Audioholics, I'm asking only $260 for it. ;) And the power switch is now completely gone! But don't worry, I throw one in that you can easily install yourself for only an additional $60. ;)
Talk about missing such a good deal like this. :D

Well, are we in the audio business or not? After all, it is our deepest hobby.

Cheers. :)

One of the better pairs of speakers produced by post Kloss Advent. Advent became part of Jensen's holdings in the early '90s and this was one of their finer mass produced products. They sound a lot sweeter than they look. That's a foam rot price, so if the surrounds are in good condition that would be a good deal assuming the rest of the speaker is in good shape (can't really tell from the compressed images on Craigslist). I've seen those speakers go on ebay for around $250-300 in good condition.

At one time Advent was among the better brands. I owned a pair back when? Early mid 70s I'm guessing - a 2 way bookshelf speaker with a 10" woofer and tweeter in a veneer cabinet. They don't make that nice walnut veneer like those any more. Kloss made the AR - Acoustic Research speaker before that. I had a pair of them way before the Advents. The AR1s were acoustic suspension design. Sounded very good with my then nearly new Sansui tube receiver - a 500A with 20wpc. Good thing I had small spaces back then.

Kloss's first big foray into speaker design was with AR with the first acoustic suspension speaker systems and dome tweeters. AR was a huge success but Kloss moved on to start KLH and a decade later he moved on to Advent. Advent was meant to produce budget killer speakers. Of all the companies that Kloss was involved in they always had a strong market hold for speaker production during and slightly after his reign. Believe it or not but at any given time some of these companies held nearly half the market share for speakers. Look at what these brands are synonymous with now, most often garbage.:(
