Epson 7500 Questions

Am having it mounted next week, however I haven't opened box.

1. Can the included mount be used on a pitched cieling?
2. Can it fill a 106" 16:9 screen from 12'?

I have searched for the answers but no luck. PJ Central calculator gives confusing results.

Thanks for all the great threads here. It's how I determined all the equipment I've bought for new home. Several Sammy 860's, Denon 3808, 4308, 5308, Panny Blue Rays 35 & 60, a couple of APC's (here) and now researching remotes for theater. Suggestions for lighting, curtains, PJ, Sat box, 5308, BR and other stuff I'm sure I'll get sucked into buying?

You should be fine projecting from 12' at 106" with that projector. If in doubt look at the projection calculator at www.projectorcentral.com

For the mount, I would think not. The mount itself is fine, but the plate that comes with it to attach to the ceiling is likely designed for a flat ceiling only. They do sell ceiling plates which can accept industry standard 1.5" tubing from most major mount manufacturers. Chief, Peerless Mounts, and others will have a solution for your slanted ceiling issue.

I finally opened the box. The mount does hinge at top plate. They show it can be used for wall mount. The projector plate can be rotated 180 degrees. But to mount on slanted ceiling, you have to be able to rotate 90 degrees, which I'm not sure this will do. Also the rods are not tubular.

Man Epson support I think are the same guys who do Petco or something. They really know nothing.

I will just get a new mount to play to safe.

If you have a rear shelf. That PJ can usually be shelf mounted. It's got an insane zoom and lens shift on it.

No rear shelf, 2nd row chairs go to close to back wall. I finally got through to Epson in the U.S. They flipped me to Premiere who apparently make thier mounts. An engineer from there is to call me tomorrow. There is so little data provided, and without taking it out and assembling, you're really in the dark.

If I need a new mount, so be it.

This is basically the type of plate you should be looking for and it does suprise me that they have not gone with an industry standard 1.5" NPT tubing pole mount between the plate and the projector mount.

I have found the same cathedral plat at PDRmounts.com. They manufacture in L.A. area. The problem with replacing the Epson mount with the above one is that once all is mounted the projector hangs too low even at the shortest pole setting. It would result in perfect projector placement for the screen, however too close to the ears. Thus, fan noise and possibly heat is an issue. PDR does have a similar mount to the Epson that allows the projector to rotate.

PDR is also priced better than other "brands" I've seen. Can't imagine there is much of a quality difference and the PJ is pretty light.

This is really an oversight on Epson's part. For the $$, there should be max flexibility.

BTW, I sure hope the VUflex Pro will really be flat, cause it a huge saving over tensioned.

Update

All is in and great. Gotta give PDR props. Very reasonable prices, very easy to use and install. The plate alows easy removal of projector with no tools, just unplug.

Screen is excellent and flat. Seems well made though has a really toxic smell that hasn't gone a way for over 2 weeks. VU Tech will replace if remains issue.

Epson immediately emailed the firmware upgrade and remote code for discrete off.

Denon 5308 is a monster, very confusing and heavy as sh**, and of course sounds great.

For the average Joe with dough, just buy, install and enjoy. Forgot all the techy stuff, it's just TV!

Just out of curiosity. I just received my 7500UB yesterday and started mounting today. Did the mount that came with the projector not work?

It's exact match for my previous mount, a Premier Mounts universal. I'm able to use the dedicated mounting plate for the Epson with the existing mounting system. The mount allows for full tilt in swivel in all directions.

Here's the same mount with my old Optoma projector. It allowed me to offset the projector to one side by mounting the bracket sideways, just like an angled ceiling.
